Chapter 877

Baby Chloe blinked her big eyes, tiny hands waving in the air as she tried to grasp the crystal pendant dangling from the chandelier. Vivian Dempsey immediately rose on tiptoe to help her reach it.

"Careful!" Evelyn Carter swiftly extended her arms to steady them both, fearing they might lose balance.

Alexander Hamilton approached silently and effortlessly plucked the crystal ornament. The baby's eyes sparkled with delight as she babbled and reached for it.

"Let me hold her," Vivian said, stretching out her hands. But the little one squirmed and burrowed deeper into Alexander's embrace.

Vivian arched an eyebrow. "Well, aren't you a little traitor."

"He spends more time with her. Of course she's attached." Evelyn's lips curved unconsciously as she watched Alexander skillfully cradle the baby with one arm while entertaining her with the other.

Vivian suddenly lowered her voice. "So...you two made up?"

"We're maintaining the status quo," Evelyn replied softly.

"And he actually agreed?" Vivian's eyes widened. "That doesn't sound like him."

Evelyn gazed out the window. "He told our parents he has...marriage-related trauma."

Vivian nearly choked. "He said that?"

"Yes." Evelyn nodded. "Even Margaret believed him."

Shaking her head in amazement, Vivian rummaged through her bag and produced an exquisite gift box. "Enough about him. Look what I got for the baby!"

Nestled inside was a pair of buttery yellow shoes embroidered with two adorable ducklings.

"Where are the eyes?" Evelyn picked up two black buttons.

Vivian facepalmed. "Those are blush dots..."

They shared a laugh. Evelyn's gaze drifted toward the doorway, her expression turning distant.

"Expecting someone?" Vivian noticed immediately.

"Miss Liang's gift should arrive today," Evelyn murmured.

The air grew still. Vivian pinched Evelyn's cheek playfully, trying to lighten the mood. "You're glowing lately."

"Two months pregnant—it's about time I put on some weight." Evelyn swatted her hand away with a smile.

Alexander's soothing voice drifted upstairs as he entertained the baby, punctuated by her gleeful giggles. Sunlight filtered through the curtains, painting warm golden patches on the floor.
