Chapter 797
Every couple has disagreements—that's perfectly normal.
What's truly terrifying is that polite distance, when you can't even be bothered to argue.
Just like Evelyn and Alexander's stagnant marriage in the past.
"Have you talked about this?" Evelyn asked softly. "You two seem great together."
Bianca rubbed her temples. "Not yet. Being with him feels so effortless—I don't want to ruin that."
She thought she'd hidden it well, but the scars from her failed marriage still lingered.
Evelyn understood that feeling all too well.
Memories flooded in like a rising tide.
The moment was interrupted as Alexander and Adrian returned to the living room.
Adrian grabbed two beers from the fridge, handing one to Bianca before settling beside her.
Though they hadn't been together long, their默契 was already evident.
Alexander took the baby from Evelyn's arms with practiced ease, as if he'd done it a thousand times before.
That comfortable familiarity of longtime partners.
Yet missing the electric spark of new love.
Bianca saw right through Alexander's little act and rolled her eyes dramatically.
Adrian took a swig of his beer and suddenly announced, "I've been thinking—if you don't want a big wedding, we could just have an intimate gathering back in Hudson City."
Clatter.
Bianca's beer can hit the floor.
"But...you were so excited about the wedding?" Her voice trembled slightly.
She bent to retrieve it, only to collide with Adrian.
"You okay?"
Flustered, he pressed the icy can directly against her cheek.
Evelyn couldn't help laughing.
Alexander met her gaze, amusement dancing in his eyes.
These two were a riot—life would never be dull with them around.
"Freezing!" Bianca snatched the can and retaliated by smacking it against Adrian's face.
Soon they were wrestling like kids.
"Keep it PG," Alexander tapped the armrest pointedly. "There's a child present."
The baby waved tiny fists excitedly, wanting to join the fun.
Bianca arched a brow. "Someone's jealous?"
Adrian rushed to explain, "I actually asked Mr. Hamilton for advice."
"About what?"
"I worried you didn't want to return to H City because...he's there. Mr. Hamilton suggested Hudson City instead."
Bianca burst out laughing. "You're still stuck on that?"
Adrian's ears turned crimson. "I just...I really need to know why you said yes to me."
Alexander's eyes narrowed.
That wasn't what the kid had said earlier!
Evelyn bit back a smile, patting Alexander's shoulder as he scowled.
He sighed, the corner of his mouth quirking up.
Fine. As long as she's happy.
Bianca didn't mince words in front of them: "You didn't think I agreed because you remind me of Vincent, did you?"
The room temperature seemed to drop ten degrees.
Evelyn knew this topic all too well.
Alexander stiffened.
Adrian looked between them nervously. "Did I say something wrong?"
Bianca gave Alexander a meaningful look. "Do all you men have such active imaginations?"
"Just him," Alexander said firmly.
Adrian blinked in confusion.
Bianca simply smiled.
Some things were better left unsaid.
Alexander would gladly bury that chapter of his life forever.
But Evelyn said calmly, "You didn't. Everyone is unique."
