Chapter 379
Gregory Wilson's gaze was calm as water, resting on her face.
Evelyn Carter took a deep breath. "Let's not see each other anymore. I'll move out as soon as possible. I'll pay you market-rate rent for the remaining lease."
"Unnecessary."
"Since I rejected you, we should settle accounts properly."
"Evelyn."
"Yes?"
"Think again."
"......"
"Alexander Hamilton won't let you go easily. With your current situation, breaking free from him won't be simple."
"......"
"If you truly hit a dead end, come to me. We can try a trial marriage—set a time limit. Or wait until he gives up completely. Divorce me anytime you want. I won't cling."
Evelyn smiled bitterly. "The Evelyn from five years ago is already dead."
"I know."
"Stop holding on. I'm Alexander's ex-wife. Would your family accept that?"
"That's my problem to solve."
Gregory stood. "You could afford to be more selfish."
"......"
"Coming to the front hall?"
She shook her head.
He walked to the window, locked it firmly, and tested the frame with a firm push. "Can't be opened from outside. Remember to lock the door."
"Okay."
Gregory picked up his coat and left.
The moment he opened the door, he collided with Alexander waiting outside.
Gregory smirked. "Mr. Hamilton has taken up eavesdropping now?"
"You're marrying Evelyn?"
"Yes."
"Give up now."
Gregory raised a brow. "She's single. I'll pursue her if I want. Marry her if I want."
Alexander's gaze sharpened. "Out of respect for your brother, I've been civil. But Evelyn is off-limits."
"We'll see."
As they brushed past each other, their shoulders clashed violently—neither yielding an inch.
Only when Gregory was gone did Alexander step into the room.
Evelyn massaged her temples.
Had these two men coordinated to bombard her in shifts?
One exits, the other eagerly enters.
"Evelyn..."
She finally snapped. "Here to interrogate me again?"
