Chapter 808

Adrian Valentine's death struck Bianca Langley like a dagger through her nearly perfect life.

The engagement ring still gleamed on her finger. The wedding photo proofs had just been selected. Happiness had been within reach—until fate revealed its cruel face.

Evelyn Carter's fingers turned white as she gripped her phone.

"Bianca is bringing her parents back tomorrow," she said, her voice tight. "Telling them now would be too cruel. But waiting until they return..."

Alexander Hamilton took her trembling hand. "I'll make the call."

"No." Evelyn shook her head. "I'm a doctor. Delivering death notifications... I have more experience."

Yet when Bianca's name lit up her screen, Evelyn's breath still hitched.

"Sorry, I was busy earlier," she said hoarsely.

Silence stretched for several seconds.

Bianca's voice was raw. "Evelyn, I can't reach Adrian."

Evelyn's nails dug into her palm.

"He never turns off his phone..." Bianca's words grew faint. "Did something happen?"

Evelyn opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

"I woke up suddenly tonight," Bianca continued, as if afraid of the answer. "Broke that porcelain figurine on my nightstand..."

Adrian's engagement gift to her.

Evelyn closed her eyes. "Miss Langley... Adrian was..."

The sound of shattering porcelain came through the line.

"Half an hour ago... car accident... didn't make it..."

A muffled sob, then utter silence. Evelyn knew Bianca was clamping a hand over her mouth, refusing to let her parents downstairs hear her cry.

"Thank you..." The call ended.

Alexander's call came through immediately. "The traffic police say this wasn't an accident."

Evelyn's pulse jumped. "Not a coincidence?"

"The driver turned himself in, but the details are suspicious." Alexander's voice was grave. "Adrian was hit, then deliberately run over multiple times."

A chill ran down Evelyn's spine. "This was murder."

"The driver insists it was drunk driving." Alexander paused. "But the doctors confirmed Adrian held on until the very end..."

Right when Bianca had woken in terror.

A thought struck Evelyn. "Where's Vincent Croix been lately?"

"I checked. He's at a Macau casino." Alexander's tone turned icy. "But this... is far from simple."

Drunk drivers don't circle back to crush their victims. Unless someone wanted Adrian dead at all costs.
