Chapter 133

Annabelle Taylor's hand rose high in the air.

Evelyn Carter instinctively shut her eyes.

Slap!

The sharp sound of the blow echoed through the hospital room.

But the expected pain never came. Evelyn opened her eyes to find Alexander Hamilton shielding her.

His gold-rimmed glasses hung crookedly on his face, a vivid red handprint blooming across his left cheek.

The room fell into a deathly silence.

"Alexander Hamilton, how dare you betray me!" Annabelle shrieked hysterically. "I'll make you regret this for the rest of your life!"

Evelyn's heart skipped a beat.

Alexander remained motionless, his head still tilted from the impact. Behind his lenses, his eyes narrowed dangerously.

She had never seen him like this before.

Like a provoked beast, every muscle in his body tensed, ready to strike.

Evelyn suddenly remembered what Richard Jackson had once said.

The gentle, refined Alexander was merely a facade.

"Are you... okay?" she ventured cautiously.

Alexander slowly lifted his gaze, his eyes sharp as blades. Evelyn immediately fell silent.

"You bitch!" Annabelle turned on Evelyn, venom dripping from her words. "Stop pretending to be innocent! Desperate for a man, aren't you? I'll pay for one to screw you to death—"

"Annabelle!" Margaret Hamilton snapped sharply. "Your grandmother is right here!"

Annabelle ignored her, raising her hand to strike again.

This time, Alexander seized her wrist.

"Enough," he growled, each word gritted through clenched teeth. "Don't force me to act here."

Annabelle writhed and screamed. "You brought her to see Grandma? I'm your girlfriend!"

She lunged toward the hospital bed. "Grandma, look at me! I'm the one who—"

"Stop!" Margaret hastily intercepted her.

Grandma Hamilton's mouth opened in horror, but only strangled gasps escaped.

Annabelle struggled like a madwoman. "Grandma! I'm your granddaughter-in-law! This slut—"

"Shut your mouth!" Alexander roared.

He yanked Annabelle away with such force that she staggered and slammed into the wall.

The entire room seemed to tremble.

Evelyn saw Alexander's hands shaking—not from fear, but from barely restrained fury.

Behind his glasses, his eyes were terrifyingly dark.
