Chapter 233
"Not interested."
Alexander Hamilton's voice was icy.
Simon Stapleton pressed on, "Mr. Hamilton, don't you want to see what Annabelle's Black boyfriend looks like? This is your chance for payback!"
Alexander smirked. "You just claimed to know very little about her."
"I don’t know much else, but I saw this with my own eyes." Simon lowered his voice. "I have photos. Should I send them to you now?"
Alexander studied him for a long moment. "Lora enjoys symphonies. There’s a performance at the H City Concert Hall this weekend."
Simon’s eyes lit up. "Thank you for the tip, Mr. Hamilton. I’ll send the photos right away."
Vivian Dempsey muttered under her breath, "Alexander’s playing his part well."
Evelyn Carter didn’t respond, quietly pulling Vivian into a shadowed corner.
Once Simon finished on his phone, he immediately grabbed a drink and disappeared into the crowd.
Alexander remained where he was, scanning the room until his gaze locked onto their hiding spot.
Assured Simon wasn’t watching, he gave Evelyn one last lingering look before turning away.
"Is he really giving up this time?" Vivian mused, rubbing her chin.
Evelyn took a sip of wine. "Probably."
"But the way he looked at you—"
"The outcome is the same," Evelyn cut in. "He accepted Annabelle’s marriage and child. What’s one more thing to accept now?"
At exactly nine o’clock, the guest of honor finally appeared.
A wine-red gown hugged her curves, and black stilettos clicked elegantly as she descended the staircase. Lora Hardy had a round face, large eyes, and a sweet smile.
"Know her?" Evelyn asked.
Vivian shook her head. "Never seen her before. Probably one of Alexander’s arrangements."
Evelyn recognized her instantly as Simon’s ideal type—young, naive, and from a wealthy family. Far prettier than that saccharine "Sweet Lolita" princess from the Sun family.
Lora commanded the room’s attention. As the mysterious youngest daughter of Oceanic Group, her debut had everyone buzzing.
Alexander stepped forward to greet her, their familiarity cementing her status. Guests raised their glasses in flattery, and Lora drank freely, soon swaying with intoxication.
"Have the waitresses escort Miss Lora home," Alexander instructed his driver.
Simon seized the opportunity and slipped out after her.
Vivian tensed. "She’s drunk. What if something happens?"
Evelyn’s phone buzzed with an unknown number: [Don’t worry. Bodyguards are following.]
"Alexander?" Vivian peered over.
Evelyn looked up just as his gaze met hers from across the room.
The moment their eyes locked, he quickly turned away and strode off.
