Chapter 353
Evelyn snapped back to reality and waved her hands dismissively.
"Then why do you look so pale?"
She rubbed her temples and gestured toward the bedroom, miming sleep.
Gregory understood immediately. "Didn't sleep well last night? Understandable. With two men at each other's throats in the house, anyone would be on edge."
Evelyn nearly choked on her porridge.
"Relax, just joking. Alexander only looked around the apartment last night and left without a word."
She lowered her head and scooped another spoonful of plain porridge.
This was merely the calm before the storm. There was no way he'd let go so easily.
"I'm heading to the Asian supermarket later. Want to come?"
Evelyn shook her head.
"Then get some rest. I'll be back soon."
While clearing the dishes, she noticed his arm was still bandaged and took over washing up.
Before leaving, Gregory tried to leave his phone with her, but she insisted he take it.
As soon as she finished drying her hands after seeing him off, the doorbell rang.
Peering through the peephole at the familiar figure, she took a deep breath and opened the door.
A phone was pressed into her palm.
Alexander strode straight to the dining table and pulled out a chair. "Did you enjoy breakfast?"
She closed the door and followed, quickly typing on her memo app: Where's Simon?
The text was too small. He leaned in to read it, then scoffed and leaned back. "I thought you'd share the breakfast menu with me."
Porridge and salad.
"Full?"
She nodded.
"Pack your things. You're moving in with me."
Evelyn frowned.
"Don't want to pack? Fine. We'll buy whatever you need."
"..."
"Reluctant to leave? Developed feelings for this place after one day?"
We're divorced, Alexander. I came to England to end this completely.
The smile on his lips faded.
Perhaps it had been forced to begin with, now vanishing without resistance.
"I know." His voice was low. "I did consider letting go. I wronged you, and I'll always be here if you need help. But—"
You're forcing me now.
"Because I realized I can't do it." His gaze snapped up. "Evelyn, let's remarry."
She shook her head slowly but firmly.
Alexander wasn't surprised by her reaction, merely quirking his lips slightly. "As for Simon..."
