Chapter 135

"You're lying, Alexander Hamilton!" Annabelle Taylor shrieked hysterically, her nails digging into her palms. "What does Grandma's death have to do with me? If you hadn't brought this bitch here, none of this would've happened! It's all her fault!"

Alexander's gaze turned razor-sharp, his voice icy. "Shut up. You know exactly who the real homewrecker is. Get out."

Annabelle trembled with rage, her tears smearing her makeup. "Fine, Alexander! How dare you speak to me like this! I'm breaking up with you!"

"Good riddance." He smirked. "The door's right there. Don't let it hit you on the way out."

"You—" Her chest heaved before a vicious smile twisted her lips. "Even if we're over, I won't let this slut have her happy ending!"

The door burst open. Medical staff rushed in, led by Evelyn's senior colleague. The doctor froze at the sight of Annabelle's contorted expression.

"Evelyn, what's going on?"

Evelyn swallowed her grief. "Save the patient first..."

Defibrillator. Pacemaker. Epinephrine. Every life-saving measure was deployed.

The flatline on the monitor delivered its cruel verdict.

Wiping sweat from his brow, the doctor shook his head solemnly. "Time of death... I'm sorry."

"Mom—" Margaret Hamilton's anguished wail broke off as she collapsed.

"Doctor!" Alexander caught his mother.

"Blood pressure's 220! Critical!" The doctor barked orders. "Does anyone know her antihypertensive meds?"

Alexander paled. "I don't remember the names—"

"Rosuvastatin and aspirin," Evelyn answered instantly.

The doctor nodded. "Get them now!"

Annabelle shoved forward. "I'm the daughter-in-law here."

The doctor glanced at Evelyn, who whispered, "What needs to be done?"

"We need to remove her outerwear and loosen undergarments for breathing. As a male physician, I can't—"

"I'll do it." Annabelle stepped forward, her pregnant belly leading.

The doctor eyed her swollen abdomen. "You're in no condition. Dr. Carter should—"

"No!" Annabelle snapped. "That whore has no right touching my mother-in-law!"

The doctor's expression darkened. "Every second counts. Are you willing to risk her life?"

"I—"

Alexander cut in. "Evelyn, please."

Evelyn moved to unbutton Margaret's collar—when a dull thud sounded behind her.

She turned.

And gasped.
