Chapter 850

"Regret?" Bianca Langley sneered, yanking her hand away.

A drop of Vincent Croix's blood fell onto her pale wrist like a crimson serpent. She grabbed a tissue and scrubbed violently until her skin turned red.

Alexander Hamilton stood by the window, fingertips tapping the sill. He should've known—that eerie feeling of being watched outside Bianca's home wasn't his imagination.

"I found Baby Chloe's photo while cleaning our marital home," Vincent rasped. "Just didn't get to tell you."

Bianca's sunglasses reflected icy light. "Marital home? The one you smashed to pieces?"

His Adam's apple bobbed. He had returned before she came back to the country. Shattered glass and overturned furniture had erased all traces of his existence.

"One last question." Bianca suddenly closed in on the hospital bed. "Did you have anything to do with Adrian Valentine's death?"

The air froze.

Alexander narrowed his eyes. The moment Vincent threatened Evelyn Carter, he'd already sentenced this man to death. Blood debts demanded blood payment—justice served.

"We loved each other so much," Vincent's eyes reddened. "Is this how little you trust me?"

"First time was an accident. Second time too?" Bianca's voice dripped venom. "Vincent, do you really think I'm stupid?"

"I swear!" Vincent slammed his fist onto the bed, IV stand rattling violently. "Adrian's death had nothing to do with me!"

Whispers rippled through the gathered crowd outside.

"That couple from the viral video is hospitalized here..."

"The tension's terrifying—who's that man beside them..."

As Alexander moved to shut the door, a cool voice cut through the noise.

"2:10 PM." Evelyn Carter stood at the crowd's edge, clutching medical charts. "Don't you people have jobs?"

The onlookers scattered like startled birds.

Evelyn entered the room, instinctively positioning herself beside Alexander. A corner of a surgery consent form peeked from her white coat pocket, stained with fresh blood.

"No rest?" Alexander took the charts from her.

"Sleep any longer and I'll get complaints." Her gaze swept over Vincent. "Besides, you're making quite the scene."

Vincent glowered. "Something you need, Dr. Carter?"

"Front row seats to the drama." Her bluntness was jarring.

Alexander summarized the situation in three sentences. Bianca suddenly chuckled, her expression unreadable behind dark lenses.

"Need a witness?" Evelyn produced an ink pad from her pocket. "My office has a printer."

Vincent stared desperately at Bianca. "I'll return the Langley Group shares right now." His voice shook. "Surely you'll believe me now?"

Bianca's fingers trembled slightly. This money-obsessed man was willing to spit out his prize?

Maybe...it really wasn't him?

She crushed the thought the instant it surfaced. Yet her heart still twisted painfully.

"Oh." Bianca finally uttered the single syllable before turning on her heel.

Evelyn and Alexander followed.

Watching her retreating back, Vincent pressed the call button. As the nurse removed glass shards from his palm, his lips curled in perverse pleasure.

"Deeper," he murmured.
