Chapter 802

Evelyn turned her phone screen toward Alexander, displaying the flight details.

"We're returning with the medical team," she said softly.

Bianca arched an eyebrow. "Perfect. Adrian can go with you."

Without hesitation, Adrian pulled out his phone, fingers flying across the screen. Moments later, he looked up. "Only one seat left."

Evelyn frowned. "Then Miss Langley, you—"

"I'm staying." Bianca's voice was steel. "If Vincent dared to send a ring to my engagement party, he'll dare to cause more trouble. I want to see what else he's got up his sleeve."

Alexander's gaze darkened. "Too risky."

Adrian glanced at Bianca, speaking only after receiving her subtle nod. "We've discussed it. I'll take Baby Chloe first. Vincent's target is Bianca—he won't come after us."

Evelyn noticed Adrian's clenched fist. This usually gentle man now had an uncharacteristic sharpness in his eyes.

"He wouldn't dare touch me." Bianca's laugh was icy. "The Langley Group is in his hands now. He's too busy consolidating power. Chasing after me? Just his wounded male pride."

She remembered the day she gave birth, hemorrhaging on the operating table while Vincent chose to meet a client. Later, he'd played the innocent victim. Now that she'd truly let go, he couldn't seem to.

Alexander and Evelyn exchanged a glance, reaching silent understanding.

"The godparents will be at the wedding on time," Alexander said.

The day before departure, the four brought Baby Chloe to the Langley family's countryside villa. Nestled away from the city, its windows opened to lush green mountains.

When Bianca's parents saw Alexander, a flicker of light passed through their clouded eyes.

"Mr. Hamilton..." Mr. Langley's hands trembled as he poured tea, his white hair glaring under the sunlight.

Alexander accepted the cup. "Uncle Langley, just call me Alex."

Mrs. Langley studied Adrian. The young man was so nervous he'd called her "uncle" instead of "aunt," yet it warmed her eyes. Compared to Vincent—once flawless and impossible to fault—this clumsy sincerity felt infinitely more reassuring.

Amid the fragrant steam, Mr. Langley suddenly wept. "I was such a fool... How could I ever..."

Bianca squeezed her father's hand. "Dad, it's over."

Adrian quietly offered a handkerchief. Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting dappled patterns on the tea table. Outside in the wooded hills, a sparrow took flight toward the boundless blue sky.
