Chapter 244

The manager approached nervously. "Is this gentleman really alright?"

"He'll live," Evelyn Carter replied coldly. "But lake water is full of bacteria. Make sure he takes antibiotics."

The drunkard exploded with rage, struggling to his feet. "I'm calling the police! This is attempted murder!"

Alexander Hamilton's gaze turned glacial.

The drunkard shivered under his stare, his voice dropping to a whimper. "...At least pay for my medical bills."

"Thought you were loaded?" Alexander sneered. "A thousand bucks for the night?"

"Who I spend it on is none of your damn business! It's not like I—"

Alexander seized him by the collar, threatening to toss him out the window again.

"Help! Murder!" The drunkard clung to the window frame, terrified.

"One more word."

"I'm sorry! Please, sir, spare me—"

"Alexander!" Evelyn shoved him hard. "Have you lost your mind?"

A vein throbbed at Alexander's temple. "After what he said to you, you're defending him?"

"If you want to kill someone, do it elsewhere!" Evelyn gritted her teeth. "I refuse to be questioned by the police."

Alexander stared at her for a long moment before finally releasing the drunkard with a disgusted flick.

Removing his glasses, he noticed his hands were smeared with blood.

"Alexander!" Annabelle Taylor rushed forward with a cry. "Your hand—"

"Get out." He didn't even glance at her, grabbing tissues to wipe the blood away.

Annabelle's tears spilled over. "Nothing I do is right anymore, is it?"

Ignoring her, Alexander grabbed Evelyn's wrist and pulled her toward the exit.

Evelyn stumbled, only to be caught firmly against his chest.

"Alexander!" Annabelle's sob echoed behind them.

His grip was unyielding as he marched forward, Evelyn trapped against his side.

"Let go!" She struggled violently.

"Stop." His voice was low. "We're leaving."

Peter Harrison suddenly blocked the doorway. "Mr. Hamilton, Evelyn is my girlfriend."

Alexander's eyes narrowed. "Figured it out now?"

Peter smiled faintly, stepping aside. "Impressive tactics, Mr. Hamilton."

"Come find me when you've thought it through."

Alexander swept past with Evelyn in tow.

The dim hallway lights made it hard to see. Evelyn gasped when her foot struck the railing.

In an instant, she was lifted off her feet.

"Alexander! Put me down!"

He ignored her protests, carrying her swiftly through the corridor before shoving her into the car.

The scent of alcohol enveloped her.

Then he was on her, his kiss brutal and tinged with blood.
