Chapter 137

Emily Zhang's voice came through the phone, laced with awkwardness. "Mr. Hamilton, Andy Taylor is in trouble again."

Alexander Hamilton's fingers tightened around his phone. "Another honey trap?"

"This time it's more complicated..." Emily hesitated. "They're demanding three million in hush money or they'll go public."

"When will he ever learn to control himself?" Alexander's voice was icy.

"It involves two female students..." Emily added with difficulty. "Minors."

Alexander stood abruptly, his chair screeching across the floor. "Was he driving my car?"

"Yes."

"In the car?"

"...Yes."

"Get rid of that vehicle immediately." Alexander's voice simmered with suppressed rage. "Call the police now."

"But Andy—"

"He deserves it." Alexander cut her off. "Handle company matters for now. I need to care for my mother and arrange Grandma's funeral."

After hanging up, Margaret Hamilton looked over with concern. "Company trouble?"

Alexander massaged his temples. "Minor issues."

"Go handle it. Auntie Marry can take care of me."

"It can wait." Alexander pocketed his phone, gazing at the rain outside. "Family comes first right now."

...

Saturday morning found Evelyn Carter organizing groceries in her new kitchen.

The doorbell rang, followed by Vivian Dempsey's energetic voice through the door. "Dr. Carter! Housewarming time!"

Evelyn opened the door to find Vivian laden with shopping bags, Gregory Wilson standing behind her holding flowers.

"Congratulations on your new place." Gregory smiled, offering the bouquet.

Evelyn accepted the flowers, giving Vivian a pointed look. "I thought it was just us two?"

Vivian winked. "Free labor—why not use it?"

As they entered, Vivian surveyed the one-bedroom apartment. "So small?"

"It's enough." Evelyn arranged the flowers in a vase. "I'll upgrade after buying a proper home."

Vivian suddenly leaned in, whispering conspiratorially. "Guess what gossip I heard? Alexander and Annabelle are breaking up!"

Evelyn's hands stilled momentarily. "Not my concern."

"Apparently Annabelle overstepped by meddling in company affairs until Alexander finally had enough." Vivian gestured excitedly. "Karma's a bitch!"

Gregory smoothly changed the subject. "Need help with lunch preparations?"

Vivian immediately pushed him toward the kitchen. "Absolutely! You're head chef today!"

Watching their bustling figures, Evelyn exhaled softly. Sunlight streamed through the window, casting warm patches across her new home's floors.
