Chapter 318
Alexander Hamilton clearly didn't expect to encounter Anthony and Teresa Taylor here. He gave a slight bow. "Mr. Taylor, Mrs. Taylor."
Teresa's smile was strained, her gaze fixed on Evelyn Carter. She tentatively reached out. "Why are you dressed so lightly? You'll catch a cold."
Without hesitation, Anthony removed his suit jacket. "Here, put this on."
Evelyn stared at the offered garment but didn't take it.
Alexander narrowed his eyes. "You know each other?"
"They came to apologize for Annabelle," Evelyn said flatly.
Anthony rubbed his hands together. "Yes, yes, Annabelle was wrong..."
Alexander suddenly stepped forward, shielding Evelyn. He coldly pushed the jacket away. "I said this matter ends here."
"Alexander, we just wanted—"
"Unnecessary." His voice was icy. "Evelyn has no connection to you."
Teresa's eyes reddened. "We only care about your wellbeing..."
"My affairs are none of your concern."
Anthony suddenly chuckled. "Fine. Young people should resolve their own issues."
The atmosphere grew tense.
Evelyn broke the silence. "How is Annabelle's recovery progressing?"
"Her physical wounds have mostly healed," Anthony sighed. "But mentally..."
Alexander scoffed. "Guilt does that."
"Has she seen a psychiatrist?"
"We consulted specialists. They recommended rest." Anthony glanced uneasily at Alexander.
Evelyn nodded. "The psychiatric department at Central Hospital is excellent."
"Yes, yes."
Teresa suddenly remembered something. "Alexander, we heard you were injured?"
His Adam's apple bobbed. "Just a scratch."
"Where? Your mother is worried."
"...My leg."
"Can you walk?"
"I can."
Teresa exhaled in relief. "Good. You should keep your elders informed."
Alexander murmured a barely audible "Mm" in response.
