Chapter 805

"I've already stationed people in Harbor City." Alexander Hamilton's eyes turned icy as his knuckles tapped lightly on the desk. Vincent Croix actually dared to target a child—a sharp glint flashed in his gaze.

Three days later, Vincent finally made his move at a cocktail party.

Alexander arrived alone, standing tall under the crystal chandelier in his tailored suit. Vincent approached with champagne in hand, his smile sickeningly fake.

"Mr. Hamilton, long time no see." Vincent raised his glass, malice lurking beneath his pleasant tone.

Alexander didn't even touch his drink. "Been busy lately, Mr. Croix? Even children aren't off-limits?"

Vincent's smile faltered before he feigned innocence. "I don't follow. I was merely concerned about my wife and daughter's safety. If I've offended—"

"Forgotten the divorce papers you signed already?" Alexander cut him off. "Yet you remember the Langley Group's name perfectly."

Vincent's grip whitened around his glass, the liquid trembling. "The company will always bear the Langley name. Bianca is just upset—she'll come back."

Alexander scoffed. The marital home stood empty, Bianca having left nothing of Vincent's behind. Yet here he was, deluding himself.

"She burned all your photos." Alexander's words struck like daggers.

Vincent's eyes reddened as he lowered his voice. "My daughter... is with the Hamiltons, isn't she?"

Alexander took a sip of wine, expression unreadable. Vincent was unhinged—they had to keep him away from Adrian at all costs.

As tension crackled between them, an acquaintance interrupted with small talk. Alexander instantly shifted back to effortless composure, the earlier confrontation erased.

Returning home late, he found a single wall lamp glowing in the living room. He crept upstairs, catching the faint scent of baby lotion outside the nursery door.

Evelyn Carter opened it quietly, finger to her lips. Moonlight filtered through the sheer curtains, illuminating their little one sleeping soundly, tiny fists curled.

"You've been drinking?" Evelyn frowned.

Alexander loosened his tie. "Ran into Vincent."

Her pupils constricted. The humidifier's mist swirled between them, casting her face in deepening shadows.
