Chapter 339

Gregory Wilson raised an eyebrow slightly. "Which department in a hospital isn't constantly swamped? I always see you grabbing meals at the hospital cafeteria. Didn’t expect you to be such a good cook."

Evelyn Carter handed him a fork, the corner of her lips lifting.

Gregory stared at the brand-new fork, his brow furrowing almost imperceptibly.

He stood abruptly and walked to the kitchen, pulling open the third drawer to retrieve a pair of chopsticks.

"Still prefer these," he said as he sat back down, scanning the table. "Why only one serving?"

Evelyn’s fingers twisted together unconsciously.

Her surgeries had been back-to-back today, leaving her only enough time to scarf down two slices of bread.

"You skipped dinner?" Gregory’s voice darkened.

With quick movements, he divided the pasta into two portions and pushed one toward her. "Doctors should eat on time."

The fork was pressed back into her hand, its cool metal seeping into her palm.

A sudden ringtone shattered the silence.

"Vincent."

"Bro! Why did you suddenly fly to the UK?!"

Gregory twirled noodles around his chopsticks. "Work."

"What’s so urgent? Unless—" The voice on the other end dropped to a whisper. "Did Evelyn go with you?"

The air froze.

Evelyn’s fork hovered mid-air.

Gregory glanced at her before responding calmly, "Yes."

"Oh no, no, no..." Vincent groaned. "Alexander’s been tearing the city apart looking for her. Vivian isn’t answering her calls either. Mom and Dad said you went back to the UK, so I figured—"

"We didn’t come together."

"But are you two...?" Vincent’s voice trembled. "Are you together right now?"

Gregory picked up a mushroom. "Yes."

"It’s past midnight in London! You two—"

"Don’t overthink it."

Frantic rustling came through the phone. "Greg, please, I’m begging you—don’t let Alexander know I called you!"

Chopsticks tapped lightly against the porcelain plate.

Gregory chuckled. "That scared of him?"

"You’re both my brothers! I’m stuck in the middle here!" Vincent sounded close to tears. "I don’t even know what to call Evelyn anymore..."

"Dr. Carter is fine."

"That’s not the point!" Vincent wailed. "If you two end up fighting over her, I can’t pick sides!"
