Chapter 695
"The children are here, let's not discuss this now." Bianca Langley forced a smile, her gaze resting on the two little ones. "Such adorable kids. You didn't... kidnap them, did you?"
Alexander Hamilton explained, "We've already spoken with their parents. This is Lily and Lotus, siblings."
Evelyn Carter introduced softly, "This is Auntie Bianca and her baby."
"Hello, Auntie Bianca," the children chorused.
Bianca looked at the well-behaved siblings and couldn't resist ruffling Lily's hair. She smiled at Lotus. "So young, yet already helping carry your sister's bag. What a thoughtful boy."
Lotus shyly lowered his head.
Lily noticed the sleeping infant in the stroller and pulled a woven grass butterfly from her pocket. "Auntie Bianca, this is for the baby."
"Thank you." Bianca accepted the gift, a shadow flickering in her eyes.
Evelyn immediately sensed her distress. Her eyes swept over the mountain of luggage by the stroller. "With this much packed... are you planning for the baby to stay with us long?"
Alexander also realized something was wrong. He signaled a staff member. "Why don't you two play here for now? Ask this nice lady if you need anything."
Once the children were led away, the three adults entered the adjacent lounge.
The moment the door closed, Bianca's fragile composure shattered. She collapsed onto the sofa, her disheveled hair failing to conceal the dark circles beneath her eyes.
Evelyn's heart clenched at the sight, remembering the radiant woman she'd first met.
"Your parents are really going abroad?" Alexander cut straight to the point.
Bianca gave a bitter laugh. "I should've known I couldn't fool you."
"What happened?"
"Vincent..." Her voice trembled. "His first love died. Now he's blaming me and the baby."
Evelyn gasped. "But he's the one who broke his promise! How is this your fault?"
"Because he regretted it." Bianca's nails dug into her palms. "He was ready to abandon everything to return to her... then I discovered I was pregnant..."
Evelyn inhaled sharply.
"The baby changed everything." Bianca's voice cracked. "That girl was traditional—she believed in not breaking up families..."
"So he resents the child?"
Bianca closed her eyes. "Her death was the final straw. Now he's... completely unhinged."
Evelyn's pulse raced. "What will you—"
"I must protect my parents and my child." Bianca lifted her head, determination flashing in her eyes. "As for Vincent... his rage needs an outlet."
Alexander's voice turned grave. "Divorce then. Give him the company. Sever all ties."
"Useless." Bianca shook her head. "He doesn't want money now. He wants vengeance."
Silence filled the room.
Bianca stood and bowed deeply. "I'm entrusting my baby to you. I can't manage alone..."
Evelyn and Alexander nodded simultaneously.
"Thank you." Bianca exhaled in relief and turned to the stroller. She leaned over her sleeping daughter, fingers hovering—but didn't dare touch.
Evelyn stood by the stroller, her heart breaking for the infant about to lose her family.
As Bianca's car pulled away, the baby stirred awake. Finding her mother gone, her lips parted in a wail.
Alexander swiftly scooped her up. "Remember Uncle and Auntie?"
Miraculously, the crying stopped. The baby blinked up at him with teary eyes.
"Don't be afraid." Alexander gently patted her back. "We're here."
