Chapter 136

Alexander Hamilton gripped Annabelle Taylor's chin with one hand while lifting her entire body with the other.

Annabelle dangled in the air, struggling like a rabbit caught by its ears.

"Alexander!" Evelyn Carter frowned. "She's pregnant."

"I know my limits."

Annabelle's eyes widened in terror, a whimper escaping her throat.

She finally realized the true danger of the man before her, her struggles gradually weakening.

The resident doctor watched nervously. "Dr. Carter, should we intervene?"

Evelyn continued unbuttoning Margaret Hamilton's blouse with gentle precision.

"That's none of my concern."

The mercury column in the blood pressure monitor rose steadily as Evelyn maintained her calm focus.

Thirty minutes later, Margaret's blood pressure finally stabilized.

Evelyn quietly closed the door behind her, greeted by the sterile chill of the hospital corridor.

Alexander stood with his phone to his ear, immediately ending the call when he saw her.

"How's my mother?"

"Her pressure has lowered, but she needs complete rest."

"I've arranged for hospitalization."

Evelyn instantly understood his reasoning.

The hospital was safer than home, with the VIP ward's security keeping unwanted visitors at bay.

"Your decision."

"Everything's settled." Alexander's voice dropped. "She's been taken away."

"She went willingly?"

Alexander gave a cold laugh before his expression softened. "Did I frighten you earlier?"

Evelyn shook her head.

"I lost control."

"I noticed."

"You mentioned needing help?"

Evelyn hesitated. "Never mind. You have enough to deal with."

She'd considered asking Alexander to warn Simon Stapleton, but realized external intervention wouldn't solve the root problem.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I can handle it."

Alexander watched her walk away until her figure disappeared down the corridor.

"Alexander."

Margaret's frail voice called from the hospital room.

He returned swiftly to her bedside, adjusting her blanket.

"Mother, how are you feeling?"

"I'll be fine." Margaret sighed. "I only regret not hearing your grandmother's final words..."

Alexander remained silent.

"We owe Evelyn so much today." Margaret studied him. "This is the second time she's saved me."

"I know."

"What about Annabelle?"

"Sent back to the rehabilitation center."

Margaret nodded. "Some quiet will do her good. But your Aunt Olivia—"

Her words were interrupted by the sudden ringing of a phone.
