Chapter 847

Alexander Hamilton frowned, sensing something amiss. "What did the call say?"

Bianca Langley let out a cold laugh and tossed her phone onto the couch. "Vincent Croix woke up. Throwing a tantrum at the hospital."

Disgust flickered in her eyes. "The nurses said he kept calling my name, asking about me. Hah. I told them to let him rot."

Evelyn Carter exchanged a glance with Alexander, both seeing the concern mirrored in each other's gaze.

"If they really want to resuscitate him," Bianca said idly, tracing her nails, "I'd be more than happy to sign the DNR form."

Outside, the night deepened. Evelyn quietly draped a blanket over Bianca, who had curled up asleep on the couch.

Before leaving, Alexander made a call to the hospital for confirmation.

"He's still in his room," he said, hanging up, his frown deepening.

In the dimly lit hospital room, Vincent Croix reclined against the headboard, the stark white bandages on his face glaring under the muted lights.

"Keep watching," he murmured into the phone.

The man standing by the bed scoffed. "What's the point? Her heart belongs to a dead man. Who's this pathetic act for?"

Vincent's gaze turned icy. "Watch your mouth."

The man clamped his lips shut but flashed a venomous look as he turned away.

The next afternoon, Evelyn pulled Alexander to Vincent's hospital room.

"How long does he plan to stay?" she whispered.

Alexander's expression darkened as he observed Vincent reviewing documents inside. "Not a ploy. Just insanity."

As they turned to leave, hushed whispers reached them from the nurses' station.

"Oh my god, it's really him!"

"So romantic—risking his life to save his ex-wife..."

Evelyn froze. She approached the counter. "What's going on?"

A young nurse eagerly handed over her phone. "Dr. Carter, look!"

A video played on the screen—slow-motion footage of Vincent pushing Bianca out of harm's way, set to a dramatic soundtrack. The likes had already surpassed a million.

Evelyn's fingers trembled slightly.

Alexander immediately offered his own phone. "Use mine."

The trending page was flooded with the hashtag #DevotedTycoon, filled with fabricated "love stories" between Vincent and Bianca.

The top post featured an old clip of them at a business event, the comments unanimously gushing about "second chances" and "true love conquers all."

Evelyn's heart sank.

This misunderstanding had spiraled out of control.
