Chapter 279

Yvonne pouted. "She's divorced and you still call her 'sister-in-law'? Vincent Wilson, you're such a flip-flopper, trying to please both sides?"

"I'm just being cautious," Vincent sneaked a glance at Gregory. "With two older brothers above me, I have to acknowledge both their wives, don't I?"

Yvonne widened her eyes. "Your own brother likes Annabelle too?"

"Huh?"

"Annabelle's so lucky," Yvonne muttered sourly. "She's always had men fawning over her since we were kids. Vincent, your eldest brother has good taste."

Vincent forced a laugh. "Yeah, yeah, much better than me..."

Yvonne bristled instantly. "What's that supposed to mean?!"

Vincent waved his hands frantically. "Not you! I meant the actress I brought today can't hold a candle to Annabelle."

Yvonne scoffed. "Say it to her face and see if she still talks to you."

"She still needs my investment for her new movie."

Yvonne waved him off. "Fine, I get it. You're Team Annabelle. Broken up but still friends. Nathan, your turn."

Nathan tugged at Vincent's sleeve for help, but the latter just shrugged.

"What's the holdup? Spit it out!"

"I..." Nathan's voice grew smaller. "...think Dr. Carter is better."

Yvonne whirled around. "Excuse me?!"

"Annabelle wasn't fair. She knew Alexander's feelings but played dumb, stringing him along for years..."

Yvonne's expression softened slightly. "Doesn't that prove Alexander truly loves Annabelle?"

Nathan hesitated. "But after Grandma Hamilton passed, Alexander seemed to wake up. He had me screenshot Vivian's posts just to check on Dr. Carter's updates... Mmph!"

Vincent clamped a hand over his mouth. "Do you ever think before you speak?"

Nathan glanced at Vivian and Evelyn, instantly regretting his words.

"Viv, I—"

Vivian raised a hand to cut him off. "They already knew."

Nathan froze. "Dr. Carter knew too?"

Vivian glared. "You think you're the only spy here?"

Nathan looked miserable. "Please, ladies, have mercy on me!"

Yvonne waved dismissively. "Consider your vote forfeited."

Nathan sighed in relief.

Yvonne turned to Gregory. "Dr. Wilson, you've got a sharp eye. Who's better—Dr. Carter or my bestie Annabelle? She's so sweet and innocent..."

"I've met her."

"Abroad?"

"Mhm."

Yvonne's eyes lit up. "Oh right, you have an unattainable love too. Don't tell me it's Annabelle? But she was married back then—"

"Miss Young."

"Yeah?"

Gregory's voice was icy. "We're adults. Stop with the childish team-picking games. It's immature."
