Chapter 614

Alexander Hamilton's gaze followed Evelyn Carter, hoping she'd glance his way. But her attention remained fixed on Andrew Anderson. A flicker of disappointment crossed his eyes before he schooled his expression.

Andrew suddenly spoke, "Can we change rooms?"

"Of course." Alexander immediately reached for the keycard.

Andrew waved him off. "Grace and I are fine. I'm worried Emily might disturb Evelyn's rest."

Emily Anderson jumped up in protest. "Dad! I came here to study!"

Evelyn smiled, ruffling her sister's hair. "It's fine. We can catch up."

Andrew gave Emily a pointed look. "Your sister needs proper rest after her shifts. That's final."

Seeing her father's stubbornness, Evelyn relented with a soft sigh.

Emily's eyes sparkled with mischief as she snatched the keycard. "Then I'll room with Mrs. Harrison! We bonded during the trip!"

She moved too fast for anyone to stop her.

Alexander discreetly memorized Evelyn's room number before heading to reception.

After settling her parents, Evelyn returned to find her luggage missing. As she turned to inquire at the front desk, she nearly collided with Alexander pushing a luggage cart.

"You?" She blinked in surprise.

He arched an eyebrow. "The bellhops were busy. Can't I deliver it myself?"

Noticing the sweat on his brow, Evelyn felt something stir in her chest. She stepped aside, her gaze catching the tip in his hand.

"Expecting payment?" she teased.

Alexander chuckled. "How generous."

With practiced ease, he unzipped her suitcase and produced crisp new bedding. "I know hotel sheets bother you."

Evelyn froze. She'd forgotten this detail, yet he remembered.

"Thank you," she whispered.

Seeing her reddening eyes, Alexander spoke gently, "I've arranged everything for your father. Medical staff are on standby 24/7."

Her fingers clenched the sheets. "He never acts like this...unless..."

"Unless his condition is worsening." His steady gaze met hers. "You're a doctor, Evelyn. You know better than I do."

Tears finally spilled over. "I can't lose him..."

Alexander gently enveloped her trembling hand. "We'll find a way. Together."
