Chapter 579
"I fully support President Carter's decision."
Manager Gregory's face darkened instantly. "Henry, what kind of attitude is this? Changing sides so quickly?"
"Manager Gregory." Alexander Hamilton's calm voice cut through the tension.
Gregory immediately turned, his face breaking into an obsequious smile. "Mr. Hamilton, do you have any instructions?"
"Nothing major. Just reminding you it's your turn to speak."
"Of course, of course."
"Mind if I eat something?"
"...Pardon?"
"I'll finish Evelyn's leftovers. You may proceed—I won't interrupt."
Gregory: ???
Alexander picked up Evelyn's used chopsticks and elegantly devoured every morsel in the takeout box.
"Why hasn't Manager Gregory started?" Alexander glanced up. "Dozens of people are waiting. Wasted time means lost profits."
Gregory gaped as Alexander unflinchingly ate Evelyn's half-finished meal.
"Mr. Hamilton is... remarkably devoted," Gregory forced a laugh. "But sharing utensils with the opposite sex isn't very hygienic, is it?"
"Say that again?"
"I meant using serving chopsticks would be more sanitary—"
"Whose utensils?"
"Miss Carter's!"
"Who?"
"Miss Carter!!!"
"Who?"
Gregory finally caught on, his face cycling through shades of pale and purple.
Henry smoothly intervened. "Mr. Hamilton, Manager Gregory misspoke. He meant President Carter."
Alexander nodded approvingly. "Ah, President Carter."
Gregory looked baffled. "What's the difference?"
Henry whispered sharply, "Manager Gregory, President Carter now holds ultimate authority here. Address her properly."
Alexander gave Henry an appreciative glance. "Manager Croix truly is the backbone of Anderson Group."
The meeting resumed. Gregory continued his tirade against Evelyn's competence, only faltering when Alexander冷笑ed at his "women have long hair and short insight" remark.
The icy chuckle silenced the entire room.
After adjournment, Gregory cornered Alexander.
"Mr. Hamilton, we can't take it anymore! That little girl knows nothing about business—she'll ruin Anderson Group!"
Alexander remained impassive. "Twenty minutes. Talk."
Gregory launched into complaints. "She targets veteran employees like us from day one, disregarding decades of contributions!"
"Mr. Hamilton, please reason with old Mr. Anderson!" other senior staff echoed.
Alexander's response was curt. "With me here, Anderson Group won't fall."
The group exchanged stunned looks.
Just then, Evelyn exited the conference room, walking past them without a glance.
Alexander swiftly followed, reaching for her laptop bag.
"Unnecessary," she murmured.
"Too heavy. Let me." He took everything without hesitation, trailing behind her like a dutiful assistant.
Gregory's jaw nearly hit the floor.
"This is outright spoiling her!" He fumed to other veterans. "Old Mr. Anderson let her run wild, and now even Mr. Hamilton takes orders from her!"
The seasoned employees shared knowing glances.
—Guess why she dares to order Mr. Hamilton around.
