Chapter 415
The night breeze carried a slight chill as neon lights flickered in the distance.
Emily Anderson clung to her sister's arm, bouncing excitedly toward the KTV entrance. "Evelyn, my classmate said the pay here is great—two hundred an hour!"
Before she could finish, a drunken man staggered into their path.
"New girls?" The man reeked of alcohol, his greasy hand landing heavily on Emily's shoulder.
She flinched and shoved him away. "What do you think you're doing?"
Evelyn Carter immediately stepped between them, her voice sharp. "Keep your hands to yourself."
The man squinted at the sisters, then grinned. "A sister duo? Interesting..."
"Let's go!" Emily tugged Evelyn's sleeve.
He blocked their escape. "Don't rush off. Name your price."
Emily's face burned with anger. "You're disgusting! We're here to meet someone!"
"Meet someone?" He scoffed. "Who comes to a place like this to meet someone?"
Another man emerged from the KTV. "Lao He, drunk again?"
"Perfect timing," Lao He jabbed a finger at the sisters. "Look—a genuine sister duo."
Evelyn tightened her grip on Emily's hand, discreetly reaching for her phone.
"Calling the cops?" Lao He snatched it away. "Stop playing hard to get!"
Emily's eyes suddenly lit up. "Alexander!" she shouted toward the entrance. "Help us!"
Alexander Hamilton paused mid-step, a red-lipped woman draped over his arm. His gaze lifted at the commotion.
"Oh, now you know Mr. Hamilton?" Lao He sneered. "You think someone like him would claim trash like you?"
Emily stomped her foot. "He really is my brother-in-law!"
"Enough," the other man cut in coldly. "Since when does Mr. Hamilton's wife frequent places like this?"
Nathan York approached. "Problem?"
Evelyn kept her voice steady. "Just a misunderstanding. We were leaving."
Recognition flashed across Lao He's face, sobering him instantly. "M-Mr. York..."
Nathan's glare was icy. "Get lost."
The sisters hurried away, Lao He's lewd chuckle trailing after them. "A sister duo...what man wouldn't be tempted..."
Inside the taxi, Emily trembled.
"Scared now?" Evelyn's tone was stern. "Still want to come to places like this?"
Emily shook her head violently. "Never again..."
After a pause, she whispered, "Evelyn...can I still call Alexander 'brother-in-law' when we see him?"
Evelyn watched the city lights blur past the window. "Call him Mr. Hamilton."
The night deepened as their taxi merged into the river of taillights.
