Chapter 374

Evelyn's nails dug deep into her palms.

She suddenly slammed her hand against the cabin door with enough force to make it shudder. "Dr. Carter! Are you in there?!"

Alexander froze mid-motion.

He pushed himself up, his eyes still dark with desire but now edged with danger. "Looking to die?"

Evelyn tilted her head back, her lips curling into a mocking smile. "What dedication, Mr. Hamilton. The world could be burning outside, and you'd still be busy playing stud."

His expression darkened instantly.

His grip tightened around her waist, threatening to snap her in half. "Say that again."

She gasped at the pain but glared back defiantly. "Am I wrong? Isn't that woman outside just here to breed with you?"

Alexander chuckled, his thumb roughly dragging across her lips. "Jealous?"

"Of what?" She jerked her head away. "I just find it fascinating how low your standards are. Even a knockoff will do."

His eyes flashed, and he abruptly bit down on her earlobe. "A knockoff? Then shouldn't the real thing fulfill her duty?"

Evelyn went rigid.

Just then, the voice outside the door rose sharply. "Dr. Carter! If you don't answer, I'm calling security!"

Alexander stilled.

He slowly straightened, his throat working as the storm in his eyes gradually settled.

"Aren't you going to answer, Mr. Hamilton?" Evelyn seized the chance to shove him away. "Your fiancée is waiting to inspect the goods."

He smirked, leisurely adjusting his cuffs. "Let her wait."

A commotion erupted outside.

"What's going on?" Gregory's voice cut through.

Annabelle immediately switched tones. "Dr. Wilson, Dr. Carter might be in danger inside!"

"What kind of danger?"

"I—I think I saw someone suspicious go in..." Her voice trailed off uncertainly.

Gregory's voice turned icy. "You saw it with your own eyes?"

"I..."

"Jane!" Linda interjected. "First you said you were worried about a thief, now it's a suspicious person?"

Annabelle stammered, lost for words.

Gregory snorted and raised his hand to knock.

"Wait." Alexander's voice, though quiet, carried clearly through the door. "My wife is resting. Is there a problem?"

Silence fell instantly outside.

Evelyn's eyes widened in disbelief.

Alexander leaned down, his breath hot against her ear. "You like watching the show? Then let's give them a performance."
