Chapter 370
The sea breeze brushed against her face as Annabelle leaned against the ship's railing, her eyes glinting. "Dr. Carter, aren't you going inside to rest?"
Linda happened to pass by and asked with concern, "Evelyn, should I call Gregory back to keep you company?"
Evelyn shook her head. The last thing she wanted was to run into him right now.
"Then enjoy the ocean view," Linda said with a smile. "There's a buffet in the dining hall, and all six cabins are open for use. I should go prepare now."
Watching Linda walk away surrounded by her bridesmaids, Evelyn turned to Annabelle, who hadn't moved. "Aren't you leaving?"
Annabelle sauntered closer but deliberately maintained distance. "Gregory Wilson brought you to such an intimate private wedding. Your relationship must be special."
Evelyn gazed at the distant horizon and didn't respond.
This wedding was unusual—no bridal gown, no elders, only close friends. She understood Gregory's intentions but chose not to acknowledge them.
"I'm the groom's friend," Annabelle suddenly said. "I handled his divorce case from his last marriage."
Evelyn arched an eyebrow. "I see."
Annabelle spun around abruptly. "Name your price."
"What?"
"Leave Alexander."
Evelyn scoffed. "I've already fled abroad. Isn't that enough?"
"Your hospital's overseas assignment list reveals your location!" Annabelle snapped. "Can't you disappear somewhere he can't find you?"
"Why should I?" Evelyn's gaze turned sharp. "Why should my life make way for you?"
"You're just stringing him along!"
"If I wanted to string him along, you wouldn't even get close to him." Evelyn turned to leave. "Instead of wasting time here, go find him yourself. There are five cabins—take your pick."
Annabelle froze in place.
Without looking back, Evelyn walked toward the cabins. The six cabins lined both sides of the ship, so quiet the sound of waves was all that remained.
