Chapter 360

"I've seen all I needed to see." Evelyn Carter took a step back. "I'm an OB-GYN. I don't handle trauma cases."

Alexander Hamilton scoffed. "Yet you had no problem treating Gregory Wilson's injuries."

"Think whatever you want." She turned to leave.

"Wait." His fingers closed around her wrist. "Getting an audience with you is harder than meeting the president."

A nearby nurse stifled a giggle. "Sir, is this your girlfriend?"

"Wife." His tone brooked no argument.

"Alexander!" She frowned.

"Fine, I'll drop it." His voice softened. "You wanted to know Simon Stapleton's whereabouts?"

Evelyn froze.

"I genuinely don't know where he is now."

She tried to pull away.

"Patience." His grip tightened, making his wound throb. He hissed in pain.

The nurse gasped. "Sir, don't move!"

Evelyn eyed his unrelenting hold. "Self-harm strategy? Doesn't seem like your style."

"Effective though." His thumb brushed her pulse point. "Sit. Listen."

With a sigh, she complied.

"I did take him to Hamilton Group's garage." His gaze darkened. "After what he did to you, I wanted him dead. But disposing of a full-grown man isn't simple."

"And?"

"Taught him a lesson and let him go."

"What lesson?"

"Since he enjoys climbing the social ladder through women," Alexander smirked, "I arranged two hundred for him."

Evelyn's eyes widened. "...Two hundred?"

"Mhm."

"He...could handle that?"

Alexander burst out laughing. "How would I know? Wasn't about to spectate."

"All of them...?"

"You're blushing."

"Am not!"

"Your ears are scarlet."

"Shut up!"

"Alright, alright." He bit back a chuckle. "Released him afterward. If even the police can't find him, he's either well-hidden or has help—like your dear Peter Harrison."

He watched for her reaction.

She was still processing the number, visibly dazed.

"Evelyn?"

"Hmm?"

"What's on your mind?"

She pressed her lips together. "I was thinking..."

"Ask me anything."

"Not you." She shook her head.

"Then who—"

A shocked voice cut through from the doorway. "Alexander?!"

His expression hardened. "What are you doing here?"
