Chapter 346
"Dr. Wilson is quite thoughtful."
"Just being polite," Gregory Wilson's gaze lingered on Evelyn Carter. "Are you alright?"
Evelyn gave a slight nod.
[Why did you come out?]
"You were gone too long. I got worried." A faint smile touched Gregory's lips. "Turns out you ran into an acquaintance."
Evelyn lifted the medicine bag. [Got everything.]
Gregory hummed in acknowledgment. "Come under my umbrella. It's larger."
He stepped forward, aligning his umbrella with Alexander Hamilton's, creating a sheltered path.
Evelyn moved to step forward.
Alexander abruptly yanked her back. "She's fine where she is."
Gregory glanced at Alexander's drenched shirt. "You're already soaked, Mr. Hamilton."
"Doesn't matter now." Alexander's voice was icy. "Wouldn't want to inconvenience you, Dr. Wilson."
Evelyn shook off Alexander's grip and walked straight under Gregory's umbrella.
Gregory tilted the umbrella toward her as they walked side by side.
"Where did you meet?"
[Pharmacy.]
"Coincidence?"
She nodded.
Gregory scoffed. "The world isn't that serendipitous."
At the villa's entrance, Evelyn hurried inside.
Gregory closed his umbrella. "Following us for a tour, Mr. Hamilton?"
Alexander arched a brow. "Problem?"
"It's late."
"I don't mind."
"But Evelyn needs rest."
Alexander smirked. "She can sleep. I'll just look around."
"Afraid you might see something that'll keep you awake."
"Meaning?"
Gregory's tone turned cryptic. "I have some... private collections."
"Oh? Now I'm even more curious."
Gregory stepped aside. "After you."
In the kitchen, Evelyn boiled water.
At the sound of footsteps, she closed her eyes briefly.
Of course—
"This painting is interesting." Alexander's voice turned frigid.
It was an oil painting.
A girl in a white coat, her slender back turned.
"Painted ten years ago," Gregory said calmly.
Alexander stared at the canvas. "The tree-lined path at Hudson Medical?"
"Sharp eye, Mr. Hamilton."
"It captures her well." Alexander's fingers tightened. "She always walked that path alone back then."
