Chapter 343
The clerk hesitated. "The nearest ATM is two blocks away. It's a thirty-minute walk. The area isn't very safe at night—lots of homeless people around..."
Richard immediately understood. "I'll cover it."
Evelyn's fingers tightened slightly around her wallet.
Richard chuckled. "Don't worry. Alexander can reimburse me later."
Evelyn's head snapped up.
Alexander had followed her to England?
She glanced out the window and spotted a black sedan parked nearby, the shadowy outline of its driver barely visible.
The clerk announced the total.
After paying, Richard handed her the medicine bag. "Let's go."
Evelyn didn't move.
"Fight with Alexander?" Richard raised an eyebrow. "He flew here in the middle of the night and dragged me straight to the hospital. Turns out he was worried about you."
Evelyn's brow furrowed.
[You've been in England this whole time?]
"Yeah, came right after the reunion," Richard said casually. "Got a project here."
No wonder he didn't know about the divorce.
"Richard, what's taking so long—"
The pharmacy door swung open.
Alexander's voice cut off abruptly.
His gaze burned against Evelyn's skin, forcing her to turn away.
"You two are so in sync," Richard teased. "Even bump into each other at a pharmacy. Alexander, your wife might be hurt—she just bought a tetanus shot."
Evelyn frantically shook her hands.
Alexander was already striding toward her, scanning her body. "Where are you hurt?"
She kept shaking her head.
"Hospital. Now." His tone brooked no argument.
Evelyn took half a step back, still refusing.
Richard frowned. "Why isn't your wife speaking?"
"Sore throat," Alexander said smoothly.
"That bad?"
"Mhm."
"She should see a doctor. Antibiotics are tightly controlled here—"
"She is a doctor."
Richard blinked. "Right, I forgot. Come on, I'll drive you both to the hospital."
Evelyn remained rooted in place.
Alexander's eyes swept over her exposed skin—no visible wounds, clothes pristine.
"Planning to sleep here?"
Evelyn pressed her lips together.
"Fine. Keep your address a secret." His voice softened slightly. "But we're going to the hospital first, and then..."
He deliberately paused.
Evelyn's eyes flew up in alarm.
"...to a hotel." A faint smirk flickered in Alexander's eyes. "Two rooms."
