Chapter 241
The air in the private room turned glacial.
Alexander Hamilton's expression darkened dangerously. His chopsticks clattered onto the table, making the dishes rattle.
Mr. Harrison wiped sweat from his brow, forcing a smile. "Mr. Hamilton, about the project—"
"The board hasn't approved it yet." Alexander rose abruptly, his tailored sleeve brushing the table edge. "Wait for the notice."
Annabelle Taylor scrambled to her feet. "Alexander, where are you going?"
He strode out without a backward glance.
The door was yanked open.
A drunken man staggered inside, reeking of alcohol.
"Lao Zhang! Keep drinking!" The drunkard waved a bottle and grabbed Alexander's collar. "Stop acting so high and mighty—"
Alexander shoved him away in disgust, his brow furrowed.
Annabelle quickly pulled out a wet wipe. "Alexander, clean your—"
"Call security." His voice was icy.
Annabelle hurried out in her heels.
The drunkard fell backward, cursing as he got up. His bleary eyes locked onto Evelyn Carter.
"Hey, new girl?" He swayed toward her, leering. "Have a drink with me..."
Evelyn backed away, knocking over a chair.
"You've mistaken me for someone else," she said firmly.
Ignoring her, he reached for her face. "Don't play hard to get—"
Peter Harrison stood at the door talking to a waiter, his back turned.
Evelyn's hand groped the table, fingers closing around a cold bottle.
As she raised it—
CRASH!
The sound of shattering glass was deafening.
Blood streamed down the drunkard's head as he collapsed.
Alexander gripped the broken bottle, its jagged edge pressed to the man's throat. Murderous rage burned in his eyes.
"Looking to die?"
