Chapter 191
The air froze the moment their eyes met.
"Well, if it isn't the famous Dr. Evelyn Carter."
Evelyn narrowed her eyes, studying the flamboyant red-haired man before her. His leather jacket clung to his lean frame, and the glaring light reflected off the feminine earring on his left ear. He looked nothing like the polished executive secretary she'd last seen in a tailored suit.
"Andy Taylor."
"You remember me?" Andy planted his pool cue firmly on the ground, tilting his head with a smirk. "Perfect timing. We have unfinished business regarding my sister."
Evelyn's peripheral vision caught sight of Emily swaying unsteadily nearby.
"Emily, come here."
Emily nodded obediently. "Okay."
A pool cue suddenly blocked her path as Andy chuckled. "Dr. Carter, your sister came willingly to play with me."
"What do you mean?"
"Exactly what I said." Andy whistled. "Isn't that right, little one?"
Emily's cheeks were flushed, her gaze hazy but still recognizing her sister. "Sis... this brother said he'd teach me... I won't play basketball anymore..."
Evelyn's temples throbbed with anger as she reached out to pull her sister away.
The pool cue cracked against her forearm, leaving an angry red mark.
"Dr. Carter, what's the hurry?" Andy licked his teeth. "Every debt has its debtor. My sister will be here soon."
No sooner had he spoken than the billiards hall door swung open.
"Sis! Brother-in-law! Over here!"
Alexander Hamilton strode in with an oppressive aura, Annabelle Taylor hurrying behind him. He stopped beside Evelyn, his gaze sweeping over Emily before locking onto Andy's face. "I brought her."
Annabelle frantically tugged at his sleeve. "Alexander, I promise I won't—"
He shook her off, his eyes never leaving Evelyn. "What are you doing in a place like this?"
Evelyn clenched her fists. "Looking for my sister."
"Emily, let's go home."
"No!" Emily stumbled back. "Mom and Dad will kill me... Sis, you promised I could have fun today..."
Andy laughed triumphantly. "Hear that, Dr. Carter? It's not me keeping her here."
Alexander suddenly stepped forward, his tall frame shielding Evelyn completely. "Andy, know your limits."
"Brother-in-law, I wouldn't dare!" Andy sneered. "The whole family depends on you now..."
"Let her go."
"I did!" Andy spread his hands. "It's the little sister who—"
His words cut off abruptly. Alexander had twisted his wrist, making Andy yelp in pain. "Ow ow ow! Brother-in-law, let go!"
