Chapter 143

The fluorescent lights in the emergency room stung the eyes.

Evelyn Carter rubbed her temples as Gregory Wilson's deep voice reached her ears. "You look pale. Let me take you home."

She was about to decline when sudden commotion erupted from the elevator bay.

"That bitch Evelyn Carter, come out here!"

A red-haired young man barged into the corridor, the studs on his leather jacket glinting coldly under the lights. His entourage of similarly dressed lackeys trailed behind like a flock of ruffled roosters.

Olivia Lightfoot instinctively stepped in front of Evelyn.

Gregory strode forward, the hem of his white coat slicing through the air. "No disturbances in the hospital."

"None of your damn business!" The redhead shoved him aside. "Where's that OB-GYN bitch? My sister's lying in there!"

The sound of rolling wheels approached from behind.

A woman in a wheelchair extended a trembling hand as her husband pushed her forward. "Andy... stop this..."

"Auntie!" The young man jutted his chin defiantly. "That doctor caused my sister's car accident. I'm getting answers today!"

Evelyn studied the aggressive youth, suddenly recalling Alexander Hamilton's mention of Annabelle Taylor's troublesome cousin—Andy Taylor.

"Who's your sister?" Gregory asked coldly.

Andy puffed out his chest. "The wife of Hamilton Group's CEO! My brother-in-law could have you all fired with one word!"

The corridor fell silent.

Gregory suddenly smiled, his gaze sharp as a scalpel behind his glasses. "Is that so? What a coincidence."

"What's so funny?"

"Your information's outdated." Gregory peeled off his gloves deliberately. "Alexander announced their divorce at this morning's board meeting."

Andy's face froze.

The woman in the wheelchair began coughing violently as her husband patted her back. "Honey, calm down..."

"Impossible!" Andy exploded. "My brother-in-law's been devoted to my sister for over a decade! There's no way they'd divorce!"

Gregory turned to Evelyn, his lips curving meaningfully. "You'll have to ask Dr. Carter about that."
