Chapter 468
Evelyn burst into laughter at that. Then, she said, "Alright, alright! I appreciate your good intentions, and I'm truly grateful for your help, Alexander. But didn't I assist you too? Serena didn't end up going to Soling that day."
"That's true," Alexander admitted with a sheepish grin. He was about to continue when Evelyn's phone rang.
She pulled it out and answered. "Olivia."
"Evelyn, don't forget about your blind date tonight," Olivia reminded her over the phone.
"I know!" Evelyn replied with a hint of resignation. "Seven o'clock at the Milnd Restaurant, right?"
"Exactly!" Olivia responded cheerfully. "Don't worry, I'll be there on time," Evelyn assured her.
"Perfect. I'll be waiting at home for your good news. Well, I won't keep you any longer."
"Bye!" With that, Olivia hung up as abruptly as she had called.
"Another blind date tonight?" Alexander asked as Evelyn tucked her phone away.
Evelyn let out a resigned sigh before nodding. "Yes, Olivia has been setting them up nonstop. She's got me going on a blind date every other day!"
Hearing this, a complicated mix of emotions flickered across Alexander's face. He quickly composed himself and cleared his throat. "If you don't want to go, why not just say no?"
Evelyn shook her head and explained, "Olivia's been working tirelessly to find me a suitable match. She's screening men from all over the country. My rejections don't deter her—not really. I know her main goal is for me to meet other men. She hopes it'll help me move on from Nathan faster. How can I refuse such kindness? It's just a meal, after all. Nothing ever comes of these dates, so they're no big deal. Olivia's enthusiasm will wane eventually, and she'll stop arranging them sooner or later."
A wistful look entered her eyes, and a faint smile touched her lips as she added, "Besides, maybe I'll actually meet someone I like on one of these blind dates."
Alexander's gaze intensified. "Evelyn... Are you sure you want to let go of Nathan completely?"
"Absolutely." Evelyn's response was swift and firm.
Alexander straightened, his expression turning serious. "Evelyn... If, by some chance, Nathan realizes he's fallen for you... If that happens, would you be willing to give him—or the two of you—another chance?"
"Not a chance!" Evelyn shot back without hesitation, her voice resolute.
Alexander's expression froze instantly. He was taken aback by Evelyn's immediate and unwavering response.
His brows furrowed in confusion as he asked, "Why not? Evelyn, don't you still have feelings for him?"
