Chapter 281
Leonard's expression darkened as a sudden realization struck him. "I need to call Gregory right away."
He snatched his phone from his pocket, scrolling through his contacts until he found Gregory Thornton's number. The call connected almost instantly.
"Leonard," Gregory's voice came through the line, laced with unmistakable tension.
"Gregory," Leonard cut in sharply, his tone icy. "If you can't control your children, I'll be more than happy to step in. Does your family have no sense of decency? Should I hire someone to teach you all what shame means?"
Gregory stiffened at the verbal lashing. Never in his years as head of the Thornton family had he been spoken to with such brutal directness—and worse, he knew he had no defense.
His face burned with humiliation as he swallowed his pride. "You're right, Leonard. This is entirely Dylan and Serena's fault. I'll handle it personally. I assure you, it won't happen again."
Leonard's voice remained cold, measured. "Gregory, don't let your business pursuits blind you to your responsibilities as a father. Meddling in another man's marriage is disgraceful. I won't repeat myself. From this moment on, all business dealings between our families are terminated. Keep your son and niece away from Nathan and Evelyn—permanently."
Gregory's face drained of color, panic flashing in his eyes. "Leonard, wait—"
But Leonard cut him off with finality. "If this happens again, don't expect mercy."
The line went dead.
"Leonard—?" Gregory stared at his phone, disbelief warring with fury. His hands trembled slightly as he took a deep, steadying breath.
"What's wrong?" Cassandra asked, her brow furrowed in concern.
Gregory shoved her hand away, his glare locking onto Dylan. "On your knees. Now."
Dylan dropped to the floor with a heavy thud.
"Happy now?" Gregory's voice rose, veins pulsing at his temples. "Not only have we lost the East District project, but Leonard has severed all ties with us!"
Dylan and Serena, standing nearby, paled. The consequences had spiraled far beyond what they'd anticipated.
A beat of silence passed before Serena abruptly knelt beside Dylan.
"Get up!" Gregory snapped.
Serena kept her head bowed. "This is my fault, Uncle Gregory. I take full responsibility."
