Chapter 382

After all, he and Evelyn were going to divorce soon. Whom Evelyn chose to be with was entirely her decision! It had nothing to do with him!

Nathan convinced himself that his anger was merely because Evelyn was still technically his wife at this moment.

That was all.

There couldn't possibly be any other reason!

After leaving the garden terrace, Evelyn seized the opportunity to slip unnoticed into the elevator, heading straight to the second floor.

The earrings she wore today were irritating her skin, so she needed to change them in her room.

As she stepped out, her gaze lifted and she saw Serena standing just a few feet away from her door.

Her brows furrowed slightly as she asked coldly, "What are you doing here?"

From Serena's posture, it was obvious she had been waiting for Evelyn.

Serena replied without hesitation, "Evelyn, we need to talk."

Evelyn crossed her arms. "Say what you want to say."

Serena straightened, her expression turning serious. "As agreed, once Leonard's birthday celebration is over, you and Nathan should proceed with the divorce immediately. I expect you to keep your word and not come up with any excuses to delay it," she said pointedly.

Hearing this, Evelyn let out a soft, mocking laugh. "That's none of your concern, Miss Cole."

Seeing Evelyn dismiss her so casually, Serena felt anger bubbling up inside her.

"Evelyn!" Her voice rose sharply, laced with frustration. "Do you honestly believe Nathan hasn't divorced you yet because he still has feelings for you? You're delusional! It's only because of his bet with Leonard! Nathan only agreed to this marriage arrangement to ensure there would be no obstacles when he marries me!"

Then, Serena gave a cold, mocking laugh. "So don't get any foolish ideas!"

In truth, Serena had only learned this by accident.

During a dinner with Dylan and Theodore, Vincent had gotten drunk and let it slip.

That was how Serena discovered the truth.

Evelyn's expression darkened instantly.

So Serena knew about it too!

It seemed she had been the only one kept completely in the dark.

All this time, she had thought Nathan's cooperation meant he cared about her, even just a little.

How ridiculous she had been!

Noticing the change in Evelyn's expression, Serena allowed herself a small, satisfied smile.

"Did you know Nathan stayed by my side all night at the hospital?" she said casually, her tone deliberately light. "You've heard about my kidnapping, haven't you? I almost died..."
