Chapter 219

Jealousy seared through Serena's veins like liquid fire. Her sharp gaze flicked toward Evelyn, eyes narrowing to slits. What spell had Evelyn cast on Nathan lately? What underhanded tactic had she used to bewitch him so completely?

"Nathan, I don’t think you can drink for her," Dylan's voice cut through the tension.

"That’s right—no substitutions!" Dylan’s reminder jolted Alexander’s memory, and he quickly chimed in.

As Alexander spoke, he shot Nathan a pointed look. But Nathan remained unreadable, his expression carved from ice. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly as he countered, "That rule was never established at the start."

Dylan faltered, at a loss for words. Alexander exhaled in defeat. "Fine, fine. You win this round. But from the next round onward, no one drinks for anyone else!"

With deliberate care, Nathan set Evelyn down. As Alexander retreated to his seat, he tossed Evelyn a playful wink. She caught it, pressing her lips together to suppress a smile.

The game resumed, each round escalating in audacity, filling the room with raucous laughter. Several dares left them breathless, clutching their sides as they gasped for air between fits of giggles.

Then, in one fateful round, Dylan drew the King card. Slapping it onto the table, he announced with a wicked grin, "The holder of the six of hearts must sit in the lap of the eight of hearts, wrap their arms around them, and... share a full-minute kiss. And yes—tongue is mandatory."

"Whoa!"

"Leave it to Dylan to raise the stakes!"

"Oh my God, this is going to be legendary!"

The room erupted in anticipation, everyone eager to see how this would unfold.

Evelyn sighed softly before placing her card on the table. "Looks like I’m the six of hearts."

"Mrs. Black strikes again," someone teased.

"So, who’s got the eight?"

The murmurs swelled with curiosity. After Nathan’s earlier interference, no one expected this dare to proceed. He had stopped Alexander from making Evelyn do squats—surely he wouldn’t allow someone else to kiss her now. Besides, who would dare with Nathan watching?

"I do."

A deep, velvety voice sliced through the chatter.

Every head turned in unison. Shock rippled through the crowd.

Nathan was holding the eight of hearts.

Evelyn’s tension dissolved instantly. Meanwhile, Serena’s face twisted in disbelief. This couldn’t be happening. Were Nathan and Evelyn really about to kiss—right here, in front of everyone?

Her nails dug into her palms as she stared at Nathan, waiting for him to refuse.

But Nathan’s expression betrayed nothing.

"Come on, Evelyn, don’t keep us waiting!" Natalie nudged her with a mischievous grin.

Evelyn’s eyes flashed with resolve. She wouldn’t back down—not with Serena watching. This was her husband, after all.

With effortless grace, she rose from the sofa and approached Nathan. Retreat was not an option.
