Chapter 451

"You might need some time to adjust."

Evelyn's eyes flickered slightly at those words.

After a pause, she nodded. "That's partially true."

"I understand," Harrison said with genuine warmth. "Time has a way of healing all wounds. And if you ever decide to open your heart again, I hope you'll consider me."

His directness caught Evelyn off guard, leaving her momentarily speechless.

She offered an awkward smile but remained silent.

From that moment, Harrison skillfully shifted the conversation to lighter topics.

He proved to be an engaging conversationalist, his witty remarks drawing several genuine laughs from Evelyn.

Their dinner progressed with surprising ease, the atmosphere at their table unexpectedly pleasant.

Unseen by them, this cheerful scene hadn't escaped notice.

Across the restaurant, Theodore observed them with an inscrutable expression.

Casually pulling out his phone, Theodore recorded a brief thirty-second clip of Evelyn's table.

With a knowing smirk, he sent it to Nathan.

Two minutes later, Theodore made the call.

"Hello," Nathan answered tersely.

"Did you see what I sent you?" Theodore inquired.

Silence.

Undeterred, Theodore continued, "Do you know what Evelyn's doing right now?" Without waiting for a response, he chuckled darkly. "She's on a blind date."

Nathan's grip on his phone turned white-knuckled. "A blind date?" His voice dropped to an arctic chill.

How soon after their divorce was this? And already Evelyn was dating?

"Who told you this?" Nathan demanded.

"Olivia," Theodore replied casually. "She's been arranging potential matches for Evelyn. Scouting the field, so to speak."

Nathan's expression darkened instantly.

Damn it all!

Why were the Caldwells moving so quickly?

And Evelyn...

Hadn't she already promised herself to Alexander? Then why this blind date? Had she kept her relationship with Alexander hidden from her family?
