Chapter 449
"We're doing great. We'll be back before the month ends," Vivian Delacroix responded cheerfully.
"That's wonderful! Just tell me the exact time and I'll personally pick you up at the airport," Evelyn Hartley replied eagerly.
Vivian chuckled. "Of course, I'll keep you updated. But actually, I called to discuss your solo concert. When are you planning to hold it? Mr. Baldwin has been pestering me nonstop about it."
Evelyn sighed deeply. "Vivian, my life's been absolute chaos lately. I'm not ready for that yet."
"You can't keep postponing it forever," Vivian chided gently. "Your fans are practically begging on social media. It's crucial you don't delay any longer. You must hold a concert in Owathe this year—no excuses."
"Alright, alright!" Evelyn conceded. "We'll go over the details when you return, okay?"
"That's the spirit!" After a brief pause, Vivian changed the subject. "How are things with your father and... your husband?"
Evelyn's lips pressed into a thin line before answering. "My father and I barely speak these days. And as for my husband..." She hesitated, her eyelashes fluttering briefly. "He's now my ex-husband."
Silence stretched on the other end as Vivian processed this unexpected revelation.
She'd never imagined things would turn out this way.
After a long pause, Vivian spoke softly. "I know you well, Evelyn. If you've made this decision, it means they've hurt you beyond repair—so deeply that you've given up trying to fix things. And you know what? That's perfectly okay. Some relationships aren't meant to last, no matter how hard we try. There's no point forcing what isn't there."
"I understand," Evelyn replied with quiet determination. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine."
"Good. Don't let it drag you down," Vivian said gently, her voice laced with concern.
They continued talking for a while longer before finally ending the call.
A week passed in a blur.
Evelyn's allergic reaction had completely vanished; the angry red welts on her skin had faded without a trace.
Fully recovered, she returned to work.
