Chapter 276
Nathan Black picked up the tablet, his fingers gliding across the screen with practiced ease. But the moment his eyes landed on the two incriminating photos, his entire body tensed. His first thought was razor-sharp—Had Evelyn seen these?
Damn it.
His jaw clenched as he stared at the images, his mind racing. Where the hell had these come from? Who had dared to leak them?
With a sharp exhale, he slammed the tablet onto his desk, the sound echoing through the office. His voice was ice. "Get these taken down. Now. And find out who posted them."
Walter Kingsley hesitated, his expression flickering with unease. Nathan caught it immediately. His gaze darkened. "Speak."
Walter swallowed. "We've already traced the source, sir. The photos… were posted by people hired by your wife."
Nathan froze.
Evelyn?
His fingers curled into a fist. "Say that again."
Walter met his gaze, steady despite the tension. "Your wife arranged for them to be uploaded."
A cold, dangerous stillness settled over Nathan. His mind spun. Why?
And then it hit him—Dylan.
That day at the hospital, the door had been slightly ajar when he left Serena’s room. Dylan must have been lurking outside, waiting for the perfect shot.
Nathan’s expression darkened further, his voice barely above a whisper. "Take down the trending post immediately."
Walter nodded sharply and left.
Nathan grabbed his phone, dialing Dylan’s number without hesitation. The call connected after two rings.
"Nathan—"
"My office. Now."
He hung up before Dylan could respond.
Dylan Reeves arrived at Blackstone Enterprises within twenty minutes, his pulse unsteady. Nathan’s tone had been deceptively calm, but that only made it worse.
Stepping into the office, he found Nathan standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, his back turned. The air was thick with tension.
"You wanted to see me?" Dylan ventured cautiously.
Nathan turned slowly, his gaze piercing. "Do you know why you're here?"
Dylan exhaled, his fingers tightening at his sides. There was no point lying. "Yes. The photos. I sent them to Evelyn."
Nathan’s eyes narrowed.
Dylan continued, voice low. "I wanted to drive a wedge between you two. After Serena came back from The Rooftop, she was hysterical—convinced you had feelings for Evelyn. She was terrified you’d abandon her. I couldn’t stand seeing her like that. So when I saw you with her at the hospital, I took the photos. I sent them to Evelyn, hoping she’d walk away."
Silence.
Then—
Nathan’s fist crashed onto the desk with a force that made Dylan flinch.
