Chapter 107

When Dominic noticed this, a smirk tugged at the corners of his lips. This surgery was far too significant to simply relinquish. The patient was elderly—high-risk, complex—and the perfect opportunity to prove himself. Failure could be excused given the difficulty, but success would elevate his career to new heights. Most importantly, the patient, Walter Kingsley, was the father of the Director of Education.

Dominic was about to press his argument when the office door swung open, cutting the conversation short. A tall, authoritative figure stepped inside.

"Mr. Holloway, you're here."

"Mr. Holloway," the doctors chorused, rising to their feet in respect.

Sebastian Holloway wasted no time. "Walter Kingsley’s case is exceptionally complex. I forwarded his files to Star last night, and she’s agreed to take over. She’ll be arriving shortly with her team."

The room erupted in murmurs of disbelief and excitement.

"Oh my God! Is Star really coming? I can’t believe I’ll get to see her operate!"

"This is incredible! I’ve been waiting for this moment!"

While the others buzzed with enthusiasm, Dominic’s expression darkened. He turned to Sebastian, his voice laced with irritation. "Mr. Holloway, isn’t it unprofessional to hand over a case from our hospital to an outsider?"

Sebastian met his gaze evenly. "As long as the surgery is successful, does it matter who performs it?"

Dominic faltered for a moment before retorting, "But if something goes wrong, the hospital’s reputation will be at stake."

Sebastian offered a calm smile. "No need to worry. Star has personally reviewed the case and confirmed a ninety-eight percent success rate."

He then addressed the room. "Each department may nominate five individuals to observe the procedure."

Excitement surged through the gathered doctors.

"Please, Mr. Holloway, I’d love to observe!"

"Me too! I’ve studied all of Star’s techniques—this is a dream come true!"

Amid the clamor, Sebastian’s gaze briefly locked with Evelyn’s. Earlier that morning, around seven, he had sent her Walter’s case files. As a cardiothoracic surgeon himself, he understood the risks involved. Relief had washed over him when she agreed to lead the operation.

As the doctors debated who would get to observe, Evelyn slipped out unnoticed and made her way to the parking lot, where her team was already waiting.

Her assistant, Gabriella Vega, greeted her with fresh scrubs and a bright grin. "Finally, back in action! I’ve missed this."

Donovan Shaw, another assistant, nodded in agreement. "Same here."

Simone Laurent, the surgical instrument nurse, smirked. "Personally, I enjoy the breaks between surgeries."

Evelyn chuckled softly but said nothing.
