Chapter 459
"What... What did you just say?" Nathan's voice trembled with shock.
"Wait, so your father actually wants to set Evelyn up with his old friend's grandson? This is ridiculous!" Theodore's jaw dropped, his eyes widening in disbelief.
Honestly, he hadn't seen this coming at all!
For a moment, he thought he'd misheard.
Nathan remained silent, downing his whiskey in one gulp, his expression darkening with barely contained rage.
Theodore, still struggling to process the news, shook his head. "What the hell is Leonard thinking? This makes no sense," he muttered.
Then he turned to Nathan, his expression turning serious. "Nathan, now that you know Evelyn is going on blind dates, doesn't that bother you?"
Nathan's sharp gaze intensified. His voice came out low and dangerous. "Of course it bothers me! Evelyn and I just finalized our divorce. And now she's already dating? What does that say about me?"
Theodore raised an eyebrow. "Is that all? You're only upset because of how it reflects on you? Not because you can't stand the thought of Evelyn with someone else?"
Nathan fell silent, his throat tightening as if something were lodged there, preventing him from speaking.
Seeing Nathan's reaction, Theodore decided not to push further.
Nathan's silence was answer enough.
Theodore was certain Nathan still had deep feelings for Evelyn and couldn't bear the idea of her moving on.
He just wouldn't admit it.
"Nathan, be honest with yourself. Has your life actually improved since divorcing Evelyn? Are you truly happier now?" Theodore asked suddenly.
At this, Nathan frowned.
He thought about everything that had happened recently—his constant mood swings, the weight pressing down on him.
He had to admit that lately, he'd been snapping at everyone, constantly on edge.
Still, he refused to believe this had anything to do with Evelyn.
This was his problem, and his alone!
Nathan took a sharp breath, his words coming out icy. "Evelyn is already seeing Alexander."
"What?" Theodore froze, his expression one of complete shock.
After a long pause, he managed to ask, "Since when?"
