Chapter 462

Gratefully, Alexander accepted it and pressed the ice pack against his swollen cheek.

The entire time, Nathan remained silent, his imposing presence filling the room with tension.

Theodore finally broke the silence. "What's really going on here, Alexander?"

Alexander hesitated for a brief moment before confessing, "Evelyn and I are just friends. The person I've always loved is Isabelle." Isabelle was Catherine's nickname.

Theodore looked stunned. "What? You're in love with Catherine?"

Nathan's eyes darkened as he fixed Alexander with an intense glare.

"Yes," Alexander admitted with a sigh. "I let everyone think I had feelings for Evelyn to make you jealous. I hoped it would make you realize your own feelings for her. There's nothing between Evelyn and me. She knows I'm in love with Isabelle."

Nathan's pupils constricted sharply at this revelation. This wasn't what he had expected.

"On Leonard's birthday, when you and Evelyn were in the garden, what did she promise you?" Nathan demanded.

"Leonard's birthday?" Alexander thought for a moment before remembering. "Isabelle's boyfriend wanted her to accompany him on a business trip to Soling. I didn't want her to go, so I asked Evelyn to take Isabelle out for drinks and get her drunk so she could throw Isabelle's phone in the pool. Evelyn refused at first, saying it was too underhanded, but I begged her to help me. After much persuasion, she finally agreed."

When he finished explaining, Alexander asked Nathan, "What's wrong?"

How dare he ask that?

Nathan's expression turned thunderous.

Theodore interjected, "So when Evelyn agreed, she wasn't agreeing to be with you?"

"Of course not," Alexander said.

Suddenly realizing something, he turned to Nathan. "Did you think Evelyn had agreed to be with me then?"

Nathan didn't answer, but his face said it all.

He had indeed believed that.

Alexander and Theodore exchanged glances, unsure how to respond.

Rubbing his temples as if suffering from a headache, Alexander said wearily, "This is my fault, Nathan..."
