Chapter 455

Evelyn's face turned to stone as she glared at him, a sardonic smirk playing at the corners of her lips. "Why bother pretending with me, Mr. Black? Serena herself told me everything. She said the moment she decides to marry you, you'd say 'I do' without hesitation."

Her eyes turned icy as she continued in a frosty tone, "So, Nathan, take good care of Serena. As for me—your ex-wife—you needn't concern yourself with my life anymore."

Nathan's brows knitted together at her words, a dangerous glint flashing in his stormy eyes.

Then, as if struck by sudden realization, his expression shifted.

A cruel smile twisted his lips as he let out a chilling laugh. "So you agreed to those blind dates because of what Serena told you?" he demanded.

Evelyn's frown deepened, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I went on those dates because I wanted to, not because of you, Mr. Black. Your arrogance truly knows no bounds."

When Nathan heard this, his piercing gaze narrowed, a predatory gleam flickering within.

He spoke in a deceptively soft voice, "Evelyn, do you really think any man in Owathe would dare touch you if I forbid it?"

Evelyn's frustration mounted as she shot him a scorching glare.

Just as she was about to erupt, a sudden laugh escaped her lips, her smile turning knowing. "Nathan, what exactly are you doing right now? Could it be... jealousy? Does seeing me with another man bother you?"

Nathan's expression faltered momentarily, irritation flashing across his features.

"Jealous?" he snapped, his voice rising sharply. "You're delusional if you think that!" His tone oozed contempt, as if she'd suggested the most absurd notion.

The derision in his voice, combined with the disdain in his eyes, struck Evelyn like a physical blow.

Her face went blank instantly.

Meeting his gaze with icy detachment, she stated, "You're the one being ridiculous here, Nathan."

"Our divorce is final. From now on, let's stay out of each other's lives."

She paused deliberately.

Then, as if remembering something important, she added with calculated calm, "Oh, and one more thing—when you and Serena get married, be sure to send me an invitation."

Evelyn shoved Nathan away and turned sharply on her heel.

But she'd barely taken three steps when Nathan seized her wrist again, yanking her back with such force that she slammed against the wall once more.

Evelyn scowled, irritation etching her features.

Before she could speak, Nathan's glacial tone cut through the air. "Evelyn! Did you actually just ask for an invitation to my wedding with Serena?"
