Chapter 448

A dark realization crept into her thoughts.

Had Grace known about Evelyn's artichoke allergy this entire time? Was that breakfast sabotage?

Lila pressed her lips into a thin line, her eyes clouded with suspicion as the pieces fell into place.

"Actually, the hospital's annual blood drive is next Saturday."

"I should focus on eating nutritious meals this week. Last time I donated, my blood sugar dropped dangerously low."

A nurse's cheerful voice interrupted Lila's scheming.

"Planning to bulk up before donating?"

"Exactly! Can't hurt to try!"

Lila gave them an unreadable smile before walking away.

The blood drive would be perfect timing. Evelyn would surely be back at work by then - and undoubtedly participate.

This was her golden opportunity to obtain Evelyn's blood sample.

The unanswered questions had haunted her for weeks, stealing both her appetite and sleep.

She would uncover the truth, no matter the cost.

Clenching her fists in determination, Lila strode down the hallway with purpose.

Meanwhile, Sebastian wasted no time updating Evelyn.

"Dominic was so focused on settling scores for Turner that he didn't consider the public backlash. Now it's blowing up in his face."

"Just focus on recovering at home. Only return when you're completely better, alright?" Sebastian advised.

"Understood," Evelyn replied calmly.

After their conversation ended, Evelyn's phone rang again immediately.

Her face lit up when she saw the caller ID.

"Vivian!" she answered eagerly, her voice brimming with joy.

"How are you holding up, darling?" came the warm, familiar voice.

"I'm fine. How are you and mentor? When are you coming back? I miss you both terribly!" Evelyn responded with a smile.
