Chapter 412

"I'm taking her to the hospital."

Nathan's voice cut through the air like winter frost.

"I don't need either of you. I can manage on my own," Evelyn stated firmly, rejecting both offers without hesitation.

She gave Julian a brief nod before turning away, her steps uneven as she limped toward the parking lot.

Nathan's jaw tightened as he watched her retreating figure.

In three swift strides, he caught up with Evelyn, bent down, and scooped her into his arms effortlessly.

"Nathan!" Evelyn gasped, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck as he lifted her.

His expression remained unreadable as he carried her toward his sleek black car.

"Put me down this instant!" Evelyn demanded, her voice sharp despite the pain. "Nathan Black! Are you deaf? I said put me down!"

She struggled against his hold, but his grip only tightened.

Ignoring her protests, Nathan carefully deposited her into the passenger seat and shut the door with finality.

Julian didn't intervene.

He stood motionless, observing the scene with keen interest.

Alexander and Theodore lingered nearby, having witnessed the entire exchange.

A knowing smile played at the corners of Julian's lips.

Even after their divorce, it seemed Nathan hadn't completely severed his ties to Evelyn.

The man clearly still cared for her.

How fascinating.

Julian adjusted his cufflinks before turning toward his own vehicle.

Theodore glanced at Alexander, amusement coloring his tone. "Does that look like indifference to you?"

Alexander smirked but remained silent.

Dylan, however, frowned deeply, concern etching lines across his forehead.

Could Nathan actually have feelings for Evelyn?

"Let's go," Alexander said quietly.

With that, they dispersed.

Meanwhile, inside Nathan's car...

After several minutes of tense silence, Evelyn spoke through gritted teeth. "Pull over. Now."

Nathan kept his eyes fixed on the road, maintaining speed as if he hadn't heard her.
