Chapter 397

"Absolutely! Time to turn the page." Evelyn's smile radiated pure, unshackled relief.

Alexander let out a slow breath before nodding. "Alright. After dinner, we celebrate properly."

The trio finished their meal and headed straight for The Velvet Lounge.

"To Evelyn's fresh start!" Natalie declared, lifting her champagne flute with infectious energy.

Following her lead, Evelyn and Alexander raised their glasses. The crystalline chime of clinking glassware filled the air between them.

"I still can't believe Serena's audacity! She staged that fall and had the nerve to accuse you," Natalie fumed, swirling her drink violently.

Evelyn shook her head. "The Grants employ dozens. I barely know half."

Alexander’s lips curled. "Bold move, framing you without understanding the stakes."

Natalie turned to him. "You think she’s involved?"

"Leonard suspects something," Evelyn mused. "They didn’t fire her—just docked six months' pay. Keeping her close to watch."

"Sharp as ever," Alexander remarked approvingly.

"Enough talk!" Natalie raised her glass again. "More champagne!"

Evelyn gave her a warning look. "Pace yourself unless you want to end up under the table."

"I just want tonight to be special," Natalie pouted.

"Special doesn’t require excess," Evelyn countered gently.

Natalie fell silent, exchanging a knowing glance with Alexander. Both recognized Evelyn’s calm as a carefully constructed facade.
