Chapter 323

Cassandra hesitated, her fingers trembling slightly. This version of Evelyn was terrifying. With Julian unable to approach Evelyn, the weight of their plan rested entirely on her shoulders.

Taking a deep breath, Cassandra stepped forward. Evelyn was still swaying wildly, completely off-beat to the music blaring through the speakers. "Evelyn, it's me, Cassandra! You're drunk. Let me take you home, okay?"

The moment Cassandra's fingers brushed Evelyn's arm, she found herself flying through the air. Evelyn flipped her effortlessly, sending her crashing onto the hard floor.

"Ahhh!" Cassandra screamed, clutching her side in pain.

"Cassandra!" Julian limped over, his face twisted in concern as he helped her up.

Meanwhile, Evelyn clapped her hands with childish delight. "That was fun! Let's do it again!" With a loud whoop, she launched into a spinning kick before landing in a perfect martial arts stance.

Cassandra and Julian exchanged stunned glances. There was no doubt now—Evelyn truly knew how to fight.

Julian whispered urgently, "What now? We can't even get near her."

Cassandra's face was tight with frustration. She hadn't anticipated things spiraling out of control like this. Who knew Evelyn would turn into a drunken martial artist? Her reflexes were lightning-fast, making it impossible for either of them to get close.

Calling for help wasn't an option. If Evelyn remembered everything tomorrow, their entire scheme would collapse. But this opportunity was too perfect to waste. If they let it slip away, would they ever get another chance?

Yet what could they do? Evelyn was unpredictable in her drunken state, lashing out at anyone who approached.

"Maybe we should abandon this attempt," Julian muttered under his breath.

Cassandra bit her lip hard as she watched Evelyn switch songs, now attempting to rap along badly.

She hadn't thought much of Evelyn initially. But over time, she'd come to understand Evelyn's significant influence within the Donovan family.

After discussing it with her mother, they'd decided to use Evelyn to secure their position within the family. If Evelyn married Julian, Cassandra was certain it would bring their small family closer to Olivia and Marcus.

Originally, Cassandra had planned to take it slow. She'd arranged for Julian and Evelyn to spend time together naturally, hoping feelings might develop. That would have been the safest, most lasting approach.

But Evelyn proved nearly impossible to get close to.

Every invitation was either refused outright or accepted only if Ethan came along. And with Ethan present, neither she nor Julian dared make a move. Ethan would have seen through their intentions immediately.

That's why Cassandra had resorted to drastic measures. Get Evelyn drunk, let something happen between her and Julian...

Tonight was supposed to be perfect. But drunk Evelyn was uncontrollable, turning everything into chaos. Neither Cassandra nor Julian could even touch her.
