Chapter 193
"Victoria," Evelyn began, her voice laced with venom, "you should get on your knees and beg for my mother's forgiveness. Or else—"
Victoria scoffed, her temper flaring. Evelyn wanted her to apologize to that wretched woman? Never. She would rather die than lower herself.
"Is that a threat?" Victoria snapped, her voice sharp as a blade. "What could you possibly do to me?"
Evelyn smiled, cold and calculated. "Oh, I won't lay a finger on you," she said smoothly. "But the Sinclair Corporation? That's another matter entirely. One word from me, and your family's empire might just crumble."
She was playing dirty, using her influence to bend Victoria to her will. But fairness had gone out the window the moment Victoria crossed the line.
Victoria's face darkened, her eyes narrowing into dangerous slits. "You wouldn't dare."
Then, a smirk curled her lips. "You think you have that kind of power? Just because you say so?"
Evelyn shrugged, feigning indifference. "Believe what you want. But ask your dear brother about Dylan and the Reeves family. He’ll tell you everything."
Her smile turned icy. "Then, you can decide whether groveling is beneath you or not."
Victoria's hands clenched into fists, her nails digging into her palms. "Dream on!" she spat. "I will never apologize to that homewrecker!"
A dangerous glint flashed in Evelyn's eyes. She could unleash her fury, but instead, she paused—remembering something far more devastating.
"Oh, Victoria," she purred, her voice dripping with mock sympathy, "you seem to have forgotten your own sordid past. Do you remember how you trapped Gregory into marriage?"
Victoria's face drained of color. "W-What are you talking about?"
Evelyn leaned in, her voice a lethal whisper. "Let me remind you. You saw Gregory—young, handsome, engaged—and you wanted him. So, you drugged him. You slept with him, then showed up at the Sinclair mansion, pregnant and demanding he marry you."
Victoria's lips trembled, her breath coming in short gasps.
Evelyn continued, her tone laced with disdain. "And let’s not forget how you ruined his engagement. Quite the scandal, wasn’t it, Aunt Victoria?"
Victoria’s face twisted in rage. "Lies! Who told you this?"
"Lies?" Evelyn smirked. "According to Lila, it’s the truth. Your dear brother confessed everything to her while drunk."
Victoria’s blood ran cold. "You’re saying Victor betrayed me?"
It had been Lila who revealed the truth to Evelyn. At the time, Evelyn had been furious—until she realized Lila’s true target wasn’t Victoria at all. It had been Grace.
Victoria seethed, silently cursing Lila and Victor. Before she could retort, Evelyn delivered the final blow.
"You clawed your way up as a homewrecker, and now you dare judge others?" Evelyn laughed, cold and mocking. "Tell me, Aunt Victoria, are you really any better than my mother?"
Victoria’s composure shattered.
