Chapter 76

Evelyn Sullivan walked straight into the villa with takeout in hand, not even glancing at Ethan Sullivan standing by the door.

She ate her dinner unhurriedly and was about to head upstairs when Ethan finally lost his patience.

"How long are you going to keep this up?"

Evelyn paused, turning to face him calmly. "Mr. Sullivan, you're mistaken. I'm perfectly clear-headed right now."

Ethan shot up from his chair, the legs scraping against the floor with a harsh screech.

"Evelyn!"

She arched a brow. "No need to raise your voice. Even if you drag me back by force, I'll find a way to leave again."

His gaze darkened as he stared at her. After a long moment, he ground out through clenched teeth, "Fine. Very well."

Watching him storm out and slam the door behind him, Evelyn exhaled in relief.

That afternoon, Grandma Sullivan called.

"Sweetheart, come to Harmony Manor and keep me company for a while."

The moment Evelyn stepped into the living room, Grandma Sullivan warmly gestured for her to sit.

"Grandma, you wanted to see me?"

The older woman took her hand, her tone suddenly serious. "Sweetheart, I'll ask you one last time. Are you really determined to get a divorce?"

Evelyn nodded without hesitation. "Yes."

"But Ethan—"

"Grandma," Evelyn interrupted gently, "the issues between us aren't impulsive."

Grandma Sullivan sighed and patted her hand. "Alright. I'll help you."

Within the hour, a lawyer arrived with the divorce papers.

Evelyn flipped to the asset division page, her pupils contracting sharply.

"Grandma, I can't accept these shares."

Grandma Sullivan's expression hardened. "This is my gift to you."

"But—"

"No buts!" The older woman's voice was firm. "If you refuse, this divorce isn't happening."

Evelyn was torn between laughter and tears at the sudden ultimatum.

By evening, Ethan arrived at Harmony Manor with a stormy expression.

Spotting the documents on the coffee table, he snatched them up and hurled them to the floor.

"I refuse!"

Grandma Sullivan gave a cold laugh. "Come with me to the study."

As the study door closed, Evelyn's heart clenched.

Her eyes fixed on the wall clock, each tick of the minute hand fraying her nerves.

If even Grandma Sullivan couldn't persuade him...

Evelyn's fists tightened.
