Chapter 267

"Stay tonight. I'll take you boating tomorrow morning."

Evelyn frowned. Fishing held no appeal for her. All she wanted this weekend was to catch up on sleep at home.

"I don't go out on weekends."

"Then we'll have a barbecue and watch movies at the villa."

It suddenly dawned on Evelyn that Ethan was planning a date. She immediately took a defensive step back. "I'm going home."

"This is your home."

"It's your villa."

"You like it? I'll transfer the deed to you right now."

"..."

Evelyn took a deep breath. "Mr. Sullivan, you know exactly what's wrong between us."

Ethan's gaze burned. "I prefer what you called me last night over 'Mr. Sullivan.'"

Every serious conversation got derailed by him. Furious, Evelyn turned to leave.

A hand suddenly closed around her wrist.

"Sophia says you've been working too hard lately," Ethan said, his voice low. "Take this weekend to relax."

"There's a bioluminescent jellyfish migration tonight. I'll take you home after."

The intensity in his dark eyes made Evelyn's heart skip.

She yanked her hand free. "You'd better keep your word."

When Ethan returned to the living room after finishing work, he found Evelyn curled in a corner of the sofa.

On screen, a ghostly pale woman was crawling out of a well—

"Ah!"

Evelyn grabbed the hands that suddenly covered her eyes and flipped their owner over her shoulder with a harsh thud.

She froze when she saw it was Ethan.

"Help me up," he ground out through clenched teeth.

"You shouldn't have sneaked up on me!" Evelyn retorted.

"You're scared of ghosts but you watch horror movies?"

"It's artistic appreciation!"

Ethan arched a brow. "Then who was trembling just now?"

Before he could finish, a grotesque face filled the screen.

Evelyn shrieked and threw herself into Ethan's arms.

"Artistic appreciation?" His chest vibrated with silent laughter.

"An accident!" She frantically turned off the TV.

As she tried to leave, an arm hooked around her waist and lifted her off her feet.

When his scorching kiss descended, Evelyn thought dazedly—he'd derailed her again...

The next afternoon.

Evelyn's face paled as she read Sophia's text.

"I'm leaving now," she said coldly, heading downstairs.

Ethan was preparing the barbecue in the courtyard. "At least stay for lunch."

"No need." Her grip tightened on her phone. "Any later and it'll be too late."

"What do you mean?"

Evelyn's smile was icy. "You deliberately kept me away so Isabella could steal my client?"
