Chapter 185
Evelyn Sullivan stepped through the revolving doors of Sullivan Tower, her heels clicking against the marble floor.
The receptionist blocked her path.
"Miss Sullivan, Mr. Sullivan has given strict orders not to receive any visitors today."
Evelyn narrowed her eyes, fingers flying across her phone screen. Five unanswered calls to Ethan Sullivan.
A cold smile curved her lips as she dialed Colin Keller instead.
Still no answer.
Her grip tightened around the burning phone as she typed a message: "How impressive, Mr. Sullivan. Cutting me off completely now?"
She turned to leave—only to collide with Ryan Paisley in his tailored suit.
"Miss Sullivan?" Surprise flickered in his eyes. "Here to see Ethan?"
Her expression instantly brightened, a sly tilt to her gaze. "Perfect timing, Ryan. Mind taking me upstairs?"
His Adam's apple bobbed. "You two..."
"Just a silly misunderstanding." She sighed dramatically. "He's throwing a tantrum."
Ryan's eyes darkened. Reason screamed at him to refuse, but that hopeful look undid him. "Fine."
When the receptionist protested, Ryan silenced her with a glance. "She's with me. Any issues, take it up with me."
The elevator ascended to the penthouse.
The office door swung open—Ethan's pen snapped in half.
"Ryan. Out."
Ryan shielded Evelyn. "I insisted on bringing her—"
"Get out!"
Evelyn gently tugged Ryan's sleeve. "You should go."
The moment the door closed, her smile vanished. She strode to Ethan's desk and sat.
"Using Ryan now?" Ethan's voice was glacial. "You've grown bold."
She met his icy stare. "When you refuse to see me, I find other ways."
"Stay away from him." He seized her wrist. "Or else—"
"Or else what?" She wrenched free, eyes blazing. "Ethan Sullivan, who gave you the right to control me?"
