Chapter 300

Ethan Sullivan turned to look at her, a faint smile in his eyes. "Thinking about how to make you happy again."

Evelyn Sullivan's anger had mostly subsided over the past few days, but she still kept a stern expression. She didn’t want to forgive him too easily—otherwise, he’d make the same mistake again.

She pressed her lips together and sat quietly beside him.

"Evelyn!" Sophia Reynolds hurried over. "Mr. West wants to discuss a collaboration with you." She froze when she noticed Ethan. "Mr. Sullivan... mind if I borrow Evelyn for ten minutes?"

Evelyn shot her a glare before turning to Ethan. "I’ll be right back."

Ethan nodded, watching her leave.

Isabella Jackson approached in her high heels, her voice trembling. "Ethan... can we talk?"

Ethan lifted his gaze, his eyes icy.

"That night, you didn’t have to come for me..." Isabella clenched her skirt. "But you did. That means—"

"Colin’s phone was broken." Ethan cut her off. "I promised to deal with the person who drugged you. That’s all."

Isabella paled, her nails digging into her palms.

"You taught that man a lesson..."

"Just keeping my word." Ethan scoffed. "How many times do I have to repeat myself?"

Tears welled up in Isabella’s eyes. "You really—"

"My answer hasn’t changed."

Watching Isabella stagger away, Ethan loosened his tie in frustration. If he hadn’t gone to Royal Emperor that night, Evelyn wouldn’t still be giving him the cold shoulder.

As the banquet neared its end, Evelyn finally returned. Seeing the empty glasses piled in front of him, she frowned. "How much have you had to drink, Mr. Sullivan?"

Ethan pulled her into his arms, the scent of alcohol heavy on his breath.

"Evelyn..." He rested his chin on her shoulder. "Stop being angry..."

She pushed against him. "You’re drunk."

His arm tightened around her waist.

"Still won’t forgive me?"

Evelyn stayed silent for a moment. "We’ll talk when you’re sober."

Suddenly, his grip loosened. His expression cleared. "I’ll take you home."

"Let’s say goodbye to Grandma first."

The elderly Mrs. Sullivan took Evelyn’s hand. "About Harmony Manor being given to Adrian..."

"Your assets are yours to decide." Evelyn smiled. "We’re just dating right now."

The old woman sighed. "That boy Adrian... I have to leave him something..."

"Don’t overthink it."

At the entrance, they ran into Adrian Sullivan. He nodded politely before quickly walking away.

Evelyn opened the car door, only to hear Ethan mutter, "What did he say to you?"

"Just a greeting." She fastened her seatbelt. "Take me to Elm Cove."
